Holy Information Explosion Batman!
Sarah Wyatt is the head Librarian now!
Hollow Needle is still around and has a link. Emporium of the Weird exists even though Wes is gone, but doesn't have a weblink.. yet.
Interesting stuff involving Dale on Feb 7th in the News Archives. Dale is resisting the Marzent's Aglaura Development plan it seems. Some people apparently think the reason he was given the Marzent Website contract was to foster goodwill towards the Plan. Mr Abbott, of course, denied this.
Apparentlly Ms Agatha Dobbs, former head of the library and wife of the mayor, is another person who's died since the original game - perhaps part of the reality reset.
There's gonna be an Aglaura IntraNet available soon! We'll definatly be getting access, I'd imagine

Last time we analyzed the book list upwards, downwards, and inside out. But it really was just a banana (see Glossary).
And the library card request didn't work in CTW1. Maybe this year it will. We've been discussing in #ctw how to provide proof of residency. Probably will involve photoshop. But hope they email your card instead of snail mail (unless you have a PO Box in Pemberton Township).
Additional info from the website:

Local environmentalists plan to seek help from NJ Organization in preventing Aglaura development
A group of concerned Aglaura citizens has reached out to the New Jersey branch of the American Littoral Society.
This is a real organization so I would say it is OOG: http://www.littoralsociety.org/
The snowstorm was real also.
Quote:
February 14, 2006:
Aglaura is celebrating St. Valentine's Day by digging out from near-record snowfalls.
CNN wrote:
More than 20 inches of snow blanketed some spots from Maryland to New England.
Aglaura News Archive wrote:
February 28, 2006:
Local official hospitalized. J.D. Willingham, the Borough solicitor and councilman, has been hospitalized at an undisclosed location.
FYI - in CTW1 before reality changed, JD Willingham died.

Regarding the February 14th News Archive ...
Quote:
Some people seem to remember a comparable storm occurring in late February of 2003, while others can't remember snowfall of this magnitude for as long as they have lived in Aglaura.
Was there a limit to the "range" of the wish?
And, on the FACTS page, it says the tax rate is $2.23.
$2.23 per what?
I sent an inquiry to the webmaster.
I love the mix of fiction and reality in this game. I actually hiked the Batona trail while stationed in New Jersey.

That was also a question in CTW1. Same tax rate (I think) but not specific to "what". Many folks wrote into Sam Green trying to find out.

Reading through this page:
http://www.aglauranj.org/mftm/current.html
which is a message from the mayor about the state of the schools, there's a symbol I don't recognize in the sixth paragraph:
Quote:
Your taxes, coupled with the federal grants the state has released to us, have not gone to waste. I am proud to report that Aglaura's school system is itself over 90% compliant with the regulations Ð placing it, in terms of compliance, among the top 3% of school systems in this state. This office, along with the School Board have worked hard together to establish competitive pay scales and benefits to prospective teachers, in an effort to attract and keep them. Our high school students continue to excel, with our high school in the state's top percentiles for graduation rates, collegiate acceptance, and academic program breadth.
Anybody recognize that funny D-with-a-dash-through-it thing after "90% compliant with the regulations"?
Or is that some kind of glitch in my browser?

Got a reply back from Sam about the $2.23 tax rate:
Quote:
Rogi,
Thanks for visiting the Aglaura site. I've still got some work to do
on the site, but I haven't been able to devote as much time to it as I'd
like. With the upcoming Aglaura IntraNet launch, our recent move and
helping Sarah Wyatt with the Artists of Aglaura, I've been a busy little
bee. I'm not really sure what that tax rate number means on the facts
page. I think it might be left over from an earlier version of the
site. I'll ask Veronica what it means when she gets back from vacation
and get back to you. Btw, if you do decide to move to the area (or if
you ever drive through town) you simply must stop by Del Doyle's and
pick up some of his Cranberry Chutney - it's unbelievable.

Hi,
I used to hang out around Burlington County when I was a child. I
remember Ong's Hat as just one street. Guess it's been a long time
and I can imagine the place has really grown. I'd like to know if
there is a current town map available - maybe you can post it on the
Aglaura website?
Thanks,
Heather

Heather,
Thanks for visiting the Aglaura site. I still have some polishing
to do here and there, but haven't had much time with all the action
that's been going on around here. With the upcoming IntraNet launch,
our recent move and helping Sarah Wyatt with the Artists of Aglaura
exhibit, I haven't had much time to do what I need to for the site. I
barely had time to put up the new Librarian's Message today before the
Mayor called with something else he wants me to do. I'll take a look
and see if I have an Aglaura map that I can throw up on the website for
you in the next couple of days.

Interesting. I kind of feel like that symbol probably doesn't mean anything. But I guess that's not the right way to think about it...

Whilst it has disappeared and is therefore probably unimportant, in case anyone is interested in that odd letter, I think it is a letter called eth used in Anglo-Saxon and Icelandic.
