Doubling times means power of two. 2^(n-2) (we need to start the differences after the second bus). So, 2^(10-2) = 2^8 = 256 minutes = 4 hours, 16 minutes.

4. I love Mondays when nothing is happening at work and a whole bunch of puzzles falls into my lap. Thanks buzman. Smile

You can do it in slightly fewer

Still can't get anywhere with the shop sign. The letters are not ROT-able.

My first thought with regards to the numbers was

that they represented letters in the alphabet that we had to anagram. The results are here (again, someone check my counting):

555-278-1513-1811-2021 EEE-BGH-OM-RK-YU
555-736-1317-2124-1216 EEE-GCF-MQ-UX-LP

The problem with this theory is that there are very few options with the second number and LOTS with the first number. I did note that UK shows up in the first number, so I thought it might be a website (I suppose if you consider dot to be O or OH?).

However, if the numbers are separate from the letters, why are they on the same bordered puzzle. Each puzzle is in a self-contained section of the page. The numbers are mixed in with the letters. This leads me to believe they are related. My only problem is that I'm coming up blank as to how.


An oddity I just noticed:

Almost everything on this page is focused on British things: "Upcoming British Film Festival", post stump (still looking for what you would call that), the newspaper puzzle, the spelling, all of the signage, etc.

Except the reward marker on the door to the shop reads:
Reward
$200,000

Seems sort of odd that an ad in a British paper by a British company would put the US prize denomination.

Also, anyone who has the paper, can you see if the street address of the shop is 47 (random prime number or important to something on the page?) or 42 (the latter, being a sop to Douglas Adams)? I have a feeling its the latter but I cannot tell from the scan.

Finally, does anyone know (or have a good guess) why the ad is meant to look like its taped together and drawn on? I mean the newspaper image mimics the "errors" exactly so it is obviously intentional. Or am I reading WAY too much into this page now?

No news and unsolved puzzle makes e_nygma something something.

 		Did anyone ever solve the Fax. and Tel. sign on the Penny article puzzle?

the 555 at the front of both the tel and fax seem like www.
