just so everyone knows, i have to manually approve the sigs {it was the only way to bypass the auto verify} so if it doesn't show up right away, it will be there, i just might be sleeping or at work. heh.

Might be able to use this to get the mayors attention. Wouldn't destroying the Library mean destroying the memorial to his mother or was it just a temporary memorial? If it was, someone should maybe get Sarah to put up a lasting memorial to Agatha. This way P. Dobbs would have to think seriously about demolishing the Library which would erase his mother's memory.

Aglaura Public Library remembers former Head Librarian
The Aglaura Public Library has marked the anniversary this week of their longest-serving Head Librarian. Agatha Dobbs, mother of current mayor Pat Dobbs, died two years ago. The Library has had a memorial display dedicated to Mrs. Dobbs, including her favorite books and selected pages from her journal.
Part of Marzent's Phase 2 of the Aglaura Redevlopment Plan includes naming the new Library facility after Mrs. Dobbs.

If you look at the last line, I don't think it would get Pat's attention.

Therefore, there'll still be a memorial to her. And if the memorial was originally just her favourite books and journal entries, it could probably be easily moved.

But where would they be moved to? According to what we have seen so far, the ENTIRE library would be on computers and there would be no books or journals that can be held, no pages to be turned, etc.

January 18, 2006:
Marzent Phase 2 plan presented, protested
Marzent presented Phase 2 of the Aglaura Redevelopment Plan at the city council meeting. Their plans include moving the current businesses in the old municipal district into the new industrial park. The post office will be adjunct to the new municipal building, while the library will be digitized and exist wholly on computers in another part of the new complex. Marzent then proposes to raze the old Aglaura Public Library building.
Head Librarian Sarah Wyatt took the floor to protest the proposal, but was ruled out of order by Mayor Dobbs who said that any debate on the topic was premature as the City Council had just gotten the proposal that evening and had not had time to review it.

Renovations were recently completed at the Aglaura Public Library, adding over 3000 square feet of modernized space along with the latest library and research technologies and resources. The project, funded through a combination of federal, state, and local government sources along with considerable private investment, will serve as a valuable resource center for the Burlington County area for years to come.
Why would the library be renovated with 3000sqft added if they were going to tear it down? If federal funds were used maybe that's a way of fighting the demolition, or maybe there was one really big private investor we can enlist to help us.

Good catch! That does seem really strange. I asked Sarah about it in my recent email, so let's she what she has to say about it.
I'm going to have to go back and reread all the library news archives. Maybe there's something else in these we didn't catch.

Sarah signed the petition after I emailed her:

Hmm, I've noticed that some people have been signing with their online sigs. Would this be cause to for a politician to throw it back?

[SPEC] Bear in mind, it's not just the library that we need to save, but also the library at it's current location.
Marzent may be after the ground that the library is built upon if it's some type of mystical portal. (Iirc, there was such a portal in CTW1.)
The protestations may be quenched if Marzent agrees to move the library, but he still wins if he gets that land.[/SPEC]
Be careful what you wish for.

'Tis why I signed with my real name and added my online AKA. IF you don't want to post your real name I would say making upa pausible one for this would be ok

Yes, but people haven't been. Does anyone else think there might be a problem with this?

I dont think there could be any problem, but anyway I've checked the signatures we have so far and most of them could be real names

If you don't wish to use your real name, make up a name, but PLEASE try to use a first and last name... even if it is fake. In fact, if you have multiple email addresses, make up a new fake name for each email address and sign with it!!! And yeah, as i previously posted, sarah signed.

Dear Taryn,
I loved to sign your petition. I'll put a flyer up at the Library too, so
people there can see it. Maybe some of our patrons will sign as well.
Thanks again for doing this. It brought a little tear to my eye!
Sincerely,
Sarah Wyatt
Head Librarian, Aglaura Public Library
So i am assuming we will find more NPC sigs!!!

Maybe we could ask Sam to include the link to the petition in the Aglaura news too, so every citizen could sign
