The latest addition at Paintover was posted by scratch.

The Image is stored in a different directory to the rest.

Could this mean it is not part of the "caesar" sequence.

And with the in-fighting amongst the hackers, are the paintover posts going to continue?

This is probably more [spec] than [puzzle], but given the... umm, social dynamic... we've seen of the hacker group recently I reckon they'll keep coming... either with scratch at the head, or a clean-conscience Ceasar spilling the beans ("friends, romans, countrymen" style) and bouncing back.

I think scratch broke a bit of a taboo by posting to metacortechs... and calling a meeting with no visible agenda: everyone was a little bit reluctant to be there, more wary than really inquisitive. Personally, I think scratch is on the outer and may leave after this... either that or he and a few others (ypt and maybe graffle) might form a super league of sorts. I think texel will stay loyal to ceasar though... the others I can't comment on. Especially not Random. I don't wanna know what that dude is smoking.

Probably the same stuff as Wongmo...

Anyway, reading back though this (and don;t ask me why) the idea that Beth is Scratch just popped into my head. I know. It doesn't make sense.

gAH.

I think paintover will still have pics, but whether or not caesar will continue to post them is the question...we have seen that the rest of the hackers have sort of kicked him out...an act of mutiny, and as we know...caesar does get "stabbed in the back".

Decimal/Ascii

Here's a go at it.

I think what is relavant is the file name. Each file name is obviously a Binary number that can be converted into a Decimal Number.

I think that the filemakes could be spelling a word. But we need to figure out how the numbers line up with the alphabet.

Shall we roll with it?

could that match up with the idea of Random's generator?

If it does spell out a word, it would be a word that does not use the same letter twice (since you can't use the same filename twice)...

Combining these ideas, it could provide a unique key for random's responses in the corresponding conversation.

(quote bpl: does the sequence 1 3 4 15 25 26 bring something up to anyone?

The name of the images posted at paintover suggest binary code, and sorted by day of posting and converted to hex they result on this sequence. Hope it's useful for someone)

hex? erm...i thought thats their denary form, i was under the understanding hexidecimal and denary were two different things, denary is base 10 isnt it? and thats what those numbers ^ there are, denary forms of the binary...anyway just thinkin out loud, might be wrong.

ive looked at the numbers now and again, but cant see any particular pattern...not prime numbers, i cant think of anything they might relate to >.< im really not sure they mean anything at the moment.

where did this come from?
Quote:
1 3 4 15 25 26 ... and sorted by day of posting and converted to hex they result on this sequence.

These are;
a) not sorted by date order
b) not hex

You can find a complete list (in date order, with Binary, Denary and Hex) at the start of this thread.

Hmmmm

We have already converted the file names to Decimal.

1 4 9 15 3 26 (assuming 25 was just a duplicate or more of the message)

Add 64 to each number and covert to ascii.

65 68 73 80 68 94
A D I O C Z

Let's rearange: ZODIAC

Um... Is this the right track. What do you think? Get's me horny.

Nice Very Happy However I think you've got some typo's in there (65 68 73 79 67 90) since the ASCII was OK.

But since you started the idea, how about this. Putting 25 back in the sequence and adding another step?

01 => 65 = A
04 => 68 = D
09 => 73 = I
25 => 89 = Y
15 => 79 = O
03 => 67 = C
26 => 90 = Z

ADIYOCZ Rot-5 is "FINDTHE"

But now we need a few more pics to test the theory.

Wow, now that sounds interesting... I guess it will take a LOT more pictures to mean something, but this really could be the way to go...

Just an addition to the "FINDTHE" theory.
