OT - Chasing The Wish wiki

I was surprised to find no Wikipedia article on CTW... and I think the people here would be ideal for the task. Certainly better suited to it than I.

I've started it off here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chasing_the_wish but it needs a lot of work.

Thanks! Really appreciate it. Though I think someone started something similar, I don't think it's been updated though. I've never used either of the two, but I'll look into adding stuff.

However, the Wikipedia article will probably be deleted due to notability requirements.

Which are vague and unclear... there's been an article on Join My Cult! on wikipedia for over a year now (I didn't write it), and I'm pretty sure it's no more notable than CTW...

The difference is that Join My Cult! is a book. Wikipedia has this to say about book notability:
Quote:
Usually, books with an ISBN-number and/or availability in a couple dozen of libraries and/or a Project Gutenberg type website, and with a notability above that of an average cookbook or programmers manual would qualify.

Ah, well, the comic has an ISBN. But either way. I'm certainly not going to get into a 'wiki brawl' over it. ;p

There's the problem: the Wikipedia article focuses on the ARG, not the comic. If you rewrote it about the comic itself it might stick. Wikipedia even has a WikiProject devoted to comics.

Either way I shouldn't write it... being one of the creators. (They say it damages objectivity. I agree, except I find it hard to believe *anything* is objective. But that's an argument for another day.)

If someone else wants to, that'd be fine.

C'iest la vie

On second thought... My vote is to let it drop.

I just thought it might prove a useful piece of history in gaming. But it's not my area of expertise, I probably shouldn't have started the post as it seems to have given people the wrong impression.

...Back to work. Smile

And including a link to the off site wiki on the ARG Wikipedia page should be enough for people who are looking for it. We try not to hog resources if we can help it. Bill, Varin, Spacebass, BrianEnigma and others have all offered to host ARG wikis in the past. In fact Varin has the Walkthrough, and Aveena has the Guide, from CTW1.

While wikipedia is the best known place, we have enough tech people around that we can get a wiki going anywhere we can get permission to have it hosted. Search is a good function and we encourage everyone to learn to use the unFiction one and Google.

And nothing wrong with been a non expert in things around here. That is the beauty of the collective experience. Stuff I may not understand, you may have studied extensively, I can ask stupid questions until something clicks and Grumpyboy, Ehsan, y2kBozo or the other hard core puzzle people can solve.
