i was wondering if the "three letters saved" refers to letters/manuascripts. But nothing else was stolen.

Thank you for your email, another option could be that your masks were stolen as a smokescreen for something else? By diverting attention to a more visible theft, they can get away with what they are really after?
Perhaps there are some rare manuscripts locked up somewhere, that no
one ever looks at?
Or some a few letters, again, out of frequent use?

Well, the masks might have been stolen as a smokescreen for something else, but I don't think it was to divert attention away from any valuables. If you check the Aglaura home page you will see what I mean - apparently I'm not the only one to think that there might have been an ulterior motive. I did check the rare collection and there was nothing at
all amiss there.

I don't mean to cast aspersions on anyone, and if I'm wrong I'll happily eat my hat, but as others have suggested, the timing on the theft is pretty darned coincidental.
