Spec: Is everything proposed on a DJ Dan show actually a wild idea and nowhere near the truth? No nanites, no EMP, no cryogenics? (or cryonics, i still need to look up the difference). What about the shark? The mind boggles.

The writers have already said it's not a nanite machine.

I suspect that the writers are playing a game of semantics.

It WAS very noticeable how dismissive DJ Dan was in the ROT podcast, and I agree with the others who say it is unbelievable that a conspiracy freak like Dan would not know nanotechnology. What conspiracy freak didn't watch the X-Files, right?

As for nanotech = the monster, it could be the PMs giving a shout-out to a popular fan-made theory. But I like the idea that DJ Dan is supposed to point us toward some things and away from others. In the ROT podcast he was dismissive of mind control rays despite the antenna described while talking to the very next caller. The direct Hanso stuff he is passionate about - ejected from Congo, can't see research platform, etc. But then for the last caller he totally blows off nanotech.

So, maybe next podcast Dan supports electomagnetism but somehow blows off purgatory in another nod to fan theories. Wink

I think the nanite thing is an injoke, much like the mapiguari (sp?). These are already things that are floating around in the LOST fan-universe, so why not bring them up as subtle jabs?

Have you ever heard of a radio talk show host Phil Hendrie? He does these crazy inteviews with there really out there people. The thing is that he is basicaly interviewing himself and talking in different voices.

DJ Dan is the only one you ever hear on those podcasts. He is just talking in a different accent to make it sound like people are calling in.

I'm not convinced of that. I think they're just crappy voice actors.

Namaste.

It's possible. I have noticed sometimes callers sounds similar. But then again, some of the callers are clearly female wherein he'd have to be a great impersonator to fake that. But what makes me wonder is, how does he get so many callers? According to his "story" on Verizon he broadcasts from different places all the time (although callers are nationwide), and we've never heard him announce a phonenumber to reach him at.
