Your team got through and won group. The purist in me wanted to see England-Germany in the first knockout round. Not to be ... oh well.

Oof, just saw that you lost Owen (was at work and couldn't get the match). Now, that's not so happy (and I suspect there might be some people whose teams may have taken a hit).

It was all very mediocre, Sweden is a country of 9m people.

They didn't look like a team who could beat a top team...hey ho Italians in '82. Maybe.

No Chris, it's you that is rubbish. Coming to terms with that is the hard part Sad . I have already got over it as my sorry team is barely ahead of your shower , but I was helped by the pirates/ninjas/elves conspiracy which gave me something more depressing to moan about at the time.

I have another team in another league that is is well within the top 20,000 and that gives me much pleasure and no controversy. Smile

But how many in the league? Very Happy

Just as I thought England were going to play well against a rated, albeit only average team, they go and fall to pieces. Sweden are a good side, but they played poorly. Did you notice the curse of the commentator? As the ball went off for the throw that led to the injury time equalizer, he said "And it's been 40 years since England beat Sweden in a competitive match, and they're two minutes away from... Goal!"

Thanks for that. Rolling Eyes

I thought the best piece of commentating on the night (Jesus, ITV is terrible) was from Southgate who noted that Rooney looked like he was being made to come in for his tea when he was subbed.

I'm sure he also said 'that was a very agricultural pass from Ferdinand'.

Either way for the rest of the tounrmanet i would play:

--------------------------Robinson

Neville/Carragher----Terry------Ferdinand----A Cole

----------------------Hargreaves/Carrick

Beckham------Gerrard-----------Lampard------J Cole

--------------------------Rooney

How about 4-5-1, pulling Beckham into the middle and putting Lennon on the wing? Then with Joe Cole on the left, and Lampard and Gerrard pushing through, we've got more attacking options.

If we win this, it will be despite Sven, not because of him.

And fewer defending options and the world's best crosser of the ball looking like a shadow of his former self in the middle not doing much.

Our best chance chance of beating any decent team is to have a solid midfield and defence and getting a goal either in a setpiece or a moment of brilliance by Rooney, Joe Cole or Gerrard.

Anyway-I think formation talk should be verboten.

Before they replaced the football with a swanky overdesigned beachball, yeah...
