just a thought

Hello-I've read several pages of posts, so if this has already been asked/answered, sorry....but...I was wondering...to determine the winner, is Volvo actually going to send out a gazillion emails at once? I thought mass emails were sent in batches...so wouldn't some people get theirs first?

Sorry, I'm not very technically literate.

another question

Also, I have only gotten 1 email from Volvo, and that was the first one after I entered the code from the map. Should I have gotten more? I'd hate to think I blew off homework and invested 6 hours of my life and not get some sort of credit for it.

Thanks!

To answer your question I'll ask you another
These posers are hard, like the skull of my brother
How far have you gone, does the map show your course?
Based on this information will the e-mails be sourced...

To be less cryptic, there have been four (4) e-mails so far...

There seem to be surprisinlgy few people "actually" registered. At least, that's what I'm reading from multiple sites and forums. It looks like a lot of folks used codes from th U.K., some from Japan and such. Anyone want to do a survey of those that have actually used a physical map-code to register?

You should have received some more but you have to use an email client that allows you to send receipts. That receipt contains a timestamp to confirm you've received the email - presumably you'll only receive the next email once you've sent the previous receipt.

So a hotmail address is unlikely to work, nor would a "normal" email address if you've downloaded the email via webmail. But if you've downloaded them in OE or Outlook, remember to click Yes when it asks if you want to send the receipt. Probably best to send it back to them straight away so you don't forget.

On the 21st will I be able to continue as I have been even if I don't recieve the email? and to go along with that... are there people already in Palau and am I affected because I just registered 9 hours ago and have been playing for 3?

Question

I was wondering if the secret code they give you when you pick up the map at dealership is all different, or is the code all the same. I goggled the secret code to start, cause there isn't a volvo dealership around for many miles. Didn't want to have to ride that far to get just a map. But was wanting to know if they were all the same, didn't want to be doing this, and using the same secret code as many others, and it wont work, and i did read that someone said you have to have the map for the finale, is that correct?

Where is it actually burried?

I know you have to solve the puzzle and win....but where is it actually burried. Here are some clues. It is inhabited becuase in the background of the linked pictures, there are city lights. These were taken in the daytime so I assume SOMEONE saw this unusual car. Second there is an unusual (unique) license plate on the backhoe. It almost looks like they are digging in a semi sandy area.. Anyway... Thoughts?

How do I attach the image of the license plate?

Nice pics of the prize, but I wonder how many localities permit a tinted front window?

Since there are different winners for each part of the world, the players in the US will be in competition against each other, as the UK, Aust, etc. Different time zones having different groups of finalists.

But there's one country which has been omitted from this contest...Africa; the rules made it clear that African's couldn't participate. Ask yourself WHY! That's probably the home of the XC90.

I appreciate all the leeds we've all been giving each other

[EDIT] There's really no need to bold your entire post. --Giskard

The car's LHD too, which won't be much use for the winner if they're from the UK or Japan. I hope some info on the final is made available when it's happened, because it's an interesting contest. I can also bet I won't be there to experience it first-hand, so I'd like to at least read about it.

Treasure Map

Hello, all.

I've been skimming through the posts, and it seems like many have the feeling that they have to go to a volvo dealer to be eligible for "The Hunt".

I do not believe this to be so.

If you notice in the FAQ (http://thehunt.volvocars.net/.../thehunt > About the Hunt > FAQ [last page]), it states this:

Quote:

What if I am not close to a Volvo dealer? Can I still get a treasure map?

Yes, you can receive a treasure map by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:

Volvo XC90 Pirates of the Caribbean Map Requests
P.O. Box 8042
Grand Rapids, MN 55745-8042

All mail requests must be postmarked by June 26, 2006 and received by July 3, 2006.

I would believe a code would come with it, however I cannot be certain, as I have not picked up a map.

Hope this helps.

Rules You Might Wish To Read

First of all -- may I thank everyone who has been so generous with helps with clues. I stand in amazement at how clever you are. I would have given up on clue 1 with out your help and (grins) now I am a point where I have to wait for an email tomorrow -- so thank you so much.

Forgive me if this is a duplicate posting -- but there was some talk -- on pages 7 - 11, I believe -- about rules ...........and how you signed in.

I just thought I might point out what the rules say --
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THE ORIGINAL TREASURE MAP WITH SECRET PIRATE CODE OR A COPY OF THE TREASURE MAP WITH SECRET PIRATE CODE WITH A VALID VOLVO RETAILER STAMP IN ORDER TO REDEEM YOUR FINALIST PRIZE. IN THE EVENT A POTENTIAL FINALIST CANNOT SUBMIT THE ORIGINAL TREASURE MAP WITH SECRET PIRATE CODE OR A COPY OF THE TREASURE MAP WITH SECRET PIRATE CODE WITH A VALID VOLVO RETAILER STAMP, THE FINALIST WILL BE DISQUALIFED. You are not a Finalist until your submission is validated and your documents are completed.

So -- if you signed in with a name on this game -- such as Black Pearl -- unless you have a map that says that -- you will not be able to win the car -- grins, if any of us are so lucky.

Enjoy your day!
TechTchr
