Hello to you all! Long time no see again Smile I'm still completely stuck on Hi Tech Zombie and I'm hoping some lovely person out there might take pity on me and help a fellow zombie in need Smile I've changed "Ugh" into

and then changed the

language, but I've got absolutely no idea what to do with it now. Everywhere I've tried to put it and the links that have been put on the board to do with it so far as well have either not worked on my computer, or I just don't understand them. I'm begging you, help!

dna reference - found the wikki page on dna, and all that relate - i can see the letters used, can see how they form, but it doesn' t make any sense to me? Some of the letters that are only 2 letters, there isn't a 3 letter "word" that can be made? etc... CC - there isn't a DNA sequence that has 2 C's in it! HELP!

Hi Tech Zombie

(painfully) Hand compiled and hand executed this, but get gibberish

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Hkbbe W[_hZ!<new line>

so obviously doing something wrong there, Is there a starting seed??

tried the online compiler from earlier in this thread, appears to compile OK, but does not produce printable output (piped it to a file which has only non-printable chars), so that didn't work out either.

Anybody got any other helpful hints? Thanks. Confused

I'm stumped on Base Pairs as well . . .
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I too checked out the wikipedia article on DNA Base Pairs. But what gets me is that damned 'e' in the final line (go ahead, check it out, right smack dab in the middle between 2 'c's. What up with that?)!! Now I'm no genetic DNA sequencer / decompiler or whatev, but according to the wiki article, 'a's like to hook up with 't's and 'c's got a kinky thing for 'g's, yet 'e's are nowhere to be found (maybe they're stuck in the corner with nothing but themselves to please Wink ). I've tried using the whole "DNA to Protein" & "DNA to Amino Acid" translations but it just skips over that 'e', does it's own thing, gives me an error that "the number of bases does not distribute evenly between codons" (because it skipped over the 'e' methinks) and I'm left with either a list of Amino Acids (82 to be exact) or another list of random letters (with quite a lot of 'p's in there). Am I way off base here and am missing a code that happens to use similar letters to DNA Base Pairs to implement it's magical ciphering, or is there some credibility to my quick google and wikipedia research? Any hints or pointers would be much appreciated!

EDIT: Never mind. Magus already caught the typo and posted over on the Zombie forums.
/me whistles and looks away, acting as if nothing was ever wrong.

The answer stares you right in the face! It's surprising how few people bothered to spend ten seconds googling

the capital of Wessex
and no-one seemed to pick up on the mare-drawn cart, which was another clue.

I'm happy with my contributions. Feel free to make something better, triLcat.

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

Okay. Now, I am totally stuck on base pairs.

The clue is that there were 4 zombie geneticists... is this important or am I over-complicating it?

also...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
when I look into genetics and codes for base pairs, they always seem to talk about them being in groups of 3, not in 1s, 2s and 3s... I can't find any pattern in the groupings either, and I've tried seeing if the last two lines are 'translations' of the first line (where A=T and C=G) but can't see anything.

Am I overthinking this? Crying or Very sad

Don't worry, Plectrum. Your quests are good. That one did have a lot of Red Herrings, but it wasn't bad nonetheless.

hi-larious

I liked Anachronism. Party because it didn't require a much google-fu, or decoding; but mostly because it was a puzzle where you had to sit there, read it a couple of times, and just wait for the oddity in the puzzle to jump out. It might have been a little simple, but after the string of super-difficult puzzles, I could use a few easy/tricky quests to get my confidence up.

And if nothing else, the writing was funny. -eth -eth (for historical correctness)

Speaking of funny, Zombiology was hilarious.

Base Pairs

#8 Wohoo.

I found this one satisfying once I knew what to do (took me two hours though) Here are some hints:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In a way it's like Editorial Inspiration.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Each combination of letters (ie. CCA, CA, GG) is one letter.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
CGT is a space between words.

No, a boonie rat from New York. And what does that have to do with the puzzles?

Yeah, I tried that - SEVERAL TIMES. No joy.

And the only boomstick manufacturers I can think of are:

Remington, Mossberg, Ithaca Gun, and Benelli.

I figured that much, Captain Obvious. What's less obvious is figuring out how to crack it.
