Good job, I'm going to try and put some combinations together.

One question though: since every letter of SABOT appears twice and the five unique numbers appear only once, how do we know its paired correctly?

I'm rather partial to this theory, too, since I proposed it in chat Sunday night. We don't seem to have much in the way of hints to know how to affix the rings. To recap, here are two ways to identify the outer rings:
Code:
SLAGRY
ABHUZM
BCVTNI
ODWSPJ
TQXFKO

SPJODW
AGRYSL
BHUZMA
OTQXFK
TNIBCV
and the number discs you know are:
634512
745312
854213
935124
052431

I was hoping that we could backsolve from the last clue page, where ___+25135 = blue print. Thinking this through:
  • PRINT=25135
  • I and N are both on the same ring BCVTNI, and would need to align with 31 on an inner disc.
  • two possible number discs have '31': 745312 and '052431'
  • if we want to align SABOT with the 67890 positions, then B matches 0.

I haven't worked beyond this point.

I've also been trying to get PRINT from 25315, but I just found it to be impossible while keeping all letters from SABOT assigned to a unique number.

For IN to line up with 13, it has to make B =0, like cath said, but it makes T on that wheel 4. However, according to our idea, T has to be 5 on one wheel (for prinT) and a 6-0 number on the other. This doesn't work if T is 4 on one of them.

Another random finding.

I realized we aren't finished with the clue: Investigate Anthropo- and Telegraph. They have 5 letters in common, not 4: T-R-A-P and H which was overlooked. They also then have 5 letters not in common, N-E-L-G-O (7 if you count 2 Es and 2 Os).

Therefore, this needs some further investigating

If we drop the requirement of aligning SABOT with 67890, we can get 3/5th of PRINT with just one pair:
Code:
BCVTNI_
_745312

As for the "anthropo-telegraph" hint, I think it was just to help people who are stuck at the first level. Google the term to find Knight Spencer. I'm not looking at anything on myspace as being an additional puzzle to solve.

A new piece of microfilm has been posted on myspace.

Under the photo the caption reads:

found this: base of a strawberry plant in the garden of good & weevil

I have found the site with the same weevil picture on it, it is a ROOT weevil,
I am not sure if the word root has anything to do with it yet, but here is the link.

A couple of requests:

When you say there is a new ~anything~ posted somewhere, please paste a link here. All I have is http://www.myspace.com/leeleak and I don't see anything new.

Some of the myspace content is restricted to viewing only by other myspace members logged in. I choose not to join myspace, so if you could grab an image and post it here as an attachment, many of us would be grateful.

Torrey, if you would register as a member of unfiction, you could edit your posts, rather than posting 3 times in a row to add or correct something.

/me posts from the office, and has reasons for not logging in at this time.

I don't know i'm weird but i'm thinking of something like

Strawberry roots and blue boots.

I don't know about the alpha. But i'm just thinking that for some reason.

Check that out for the polyalphabetic solution and Porta's disc is mentioned. Maybe the "key" is SABOT. Also attatched is Porta's disc.

A few facts about our cipher discs

There is a total of 30 letters.
SABOT is featured twice, excluding one set makes it 25, all of the alphabet is represented except E. (could explain the *)
The number rings: each have 1-5 and each disc also carries a single digit 0-9

in this link,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigen%C3%A8re_cipher
it shows a picture of a Caesar cipher which I think is what we are dealing with

the microfilm states = alpha 1-5
alpha should be an abbrev. for alphabet.

The picure of the weevil sits next to the minus weevil statement. Subtracting the weevil from the picture it sits on a leaf (as showen in my previous link). It is also a ROOT weevil. So ROOT or LEAF =
or any derivative.

The second picture is a pair of shoes or boots. To me they look like BOOTY's (baby shoes) or BOOTY like pirate treasure.

As for our cipher discs, I am still fond of the idea of them being layed out in order of V-Z and 6-0 as they are paired in the picture with maybe 25135 = SABOT

If you have any ideas about what I have mentioned please give your input.

Not following this one too closely, but it does sound like you may be dealing with an Alberti.
This tool may be of some assistance.
