[UPDATE] Aglaura News June 22 - Town Meeting Info

Quote:
Council Meeting to Feature Phone-In Participation

Call in number --------------------toll free

Direct line for international calls -------------------

Participant Code: ----------#

**Update** The waiting room chatroom is on the chat-solutions.org network in the room #aglauracouncilmeeting

**Note** This meeting will be recorded, so anyone taking part automatically gives their permission for their statement to be recorded and distributed by the Aglaura Borough Council.

The Aglaura Borough Council meeting being held tonight will include a special Open Participation section for any non-residents who wish to speak on the Aglaura Public Library and Redevelopment Plan issues. This special portion of the meeting will be conducted via a telephone conference, with a toll free number for anyone wishing to participate to call in to.

The Council meeting begins promptly at 7:30 PM here in Aglaura, with the Open Participation section scheduled to begin right around 8:00 PM. The moderated phone conference will last thirty minutes and each speaker will be allowed a maximum of five minutes to make their statement. Aglaura residents in attendance at the meeting will be allowed to respond to the statements from the call-in participants, if they choose to. A vote on the proposed Phase 2 of the Aglaura Redevelopment Plan will be held immediately following the Open Participation section.

A toll free call-in number will be posted to this page at 7:50 PM eastern, along with a Participant Code (PIN) number for participants to use to log-in to the phone conference. We will also be setting up a temporary online chatroom as a waiting room for the Council meeting at 7:30 PM, moderated by Aglaura webmaster Sam Greene. Details of this chatroom will be posted here as soon as possible.

Participant instructions for Aglaura Council meeting:

1. At the specified time, dial the Access Number.
2. When prompted, enter your Participant Code followed by #.

General Participant PhoneCommands
*4-Volume - Pressing *4 will increase/decrease the volume.
*6-Mute - Participants can mute/unmute their own lines by pressing *6.

Participant Speaking Instructions:
1. Press *1 on the keypad to "raise your hand" to make a statement. You will hear a voice confirmation saying "Your hand is raised." Press the # key to cancel your request to speak, if necessary.
2. You will be notified when your turn to speak arises and your line will be un-muted to allow you to participate.

Although access to our system is available from your cell phone through the toll free number, your cell phone provider may/or may not charge you AIR TIME, long-distance and other CHARGES. Aglaura NJ is not responsible for the particular contract items related to what your cell phone provider is allowed to charge. Please make sure you know what your cell phone service plan states regarding this issue

Excellent! 8pm eastern is when I'm driving home from work! I'm in the car for 40 minutes, so I'll definitely be on that call.

I should be able to attend too, hope the kids are under control by then. Wink It sounds like not many of us will get to read statements, though, if we're restricted to thirty minutes.

It says residents can respond, I wonder how many will do that. Hopefully they'll let us callers stick around and hear the vote.

See everyone in the chat room!

I don't really have anything to ask, but I am a very good public speaker.

If there is any kind of statement someone wants me to read, or if someone has a comment they wish to make and cannot attend the open forum on the phone, I would be more than happy to read something prepared.

I won't be making a statement myself, but here's a quote that might be useful (I sent it in the letters I wrote):

Quote:

From Trevor Jones, Illinois Digitization Institute

"Digital projects are also expensive. At this point no institution has managed to make digitization projects cost-effective, and most attempts to recoup the costs of digital imaging through user fees have failed. Costs for digitization continue even after a project's conclusion, as all digital files require maintenance to ensure that they will readable in the future."

I'm hoping the Mayor would be interested in the financial impact.

I myself am a HORRIBLE public speaker, so I'll just be listening in. Smile

Crap! I won't be able to be there. Do we expect them to archive it and post it on the Aglaura page? If not, can somebody record it and post it here?

Your wish is their command. Added at the top of the June 22 update:
Quote:
**Note** This meeting will be recorded, so anyone taking part automatically gives their permission for their statement to be recorded and distributed by the Aglaura Borough Council.

And a disclaimer at the bottom:

So don't say your SSN or anything. Wink

personally, i would still feel better if someone, maybe multiple people, recorded it. we have no assurance that it is going to be made available to us in its entirety - for all we know they could just put snippets of some of the speakers up. Course, if it turns out that they do make it all available that will be great, i would just rather be safe than sorry.

if i had a way, i'd do it myself... but i don't have a computer system for it {nor do i have a mic anyway}.

It would be best if one of us records it. Unfortunately, the best I can do is hold my phone up to the computer.

Sam said there's a larger turn out than normal because of the letter writing

And the numbers up;

Quote:
Call in number 1-800-704-9804 toll free

Direct line for international calls 1-404-920-6604

Participant Code: 86284897#

Some fabulous speakers from UF made some excellent statements & we even got a song!

We are now out of the loop for the vote, they will post the recording of the call & the results of the vote on the website soon, at least that is what Mayor Dobbs said.
