I've been silently following along as I suspect MANY others are now as well, given that this is the only real site talking about the show and I must say, my brain is racked. Mystatude has been rediculously on point with his/her suggestions and pointers, which is odd enough to me, but given this is the internet, any one of us could be anyone, it is after all a show about sabotage. Either way, it seems like there's hidden clues in every single bigger clue and it's getting a bit out of hand... Trying to wrap my brain around all this at once is becoming a cause for adhd. I'm getting kind of scattered on it to be honest, but the wikipedia page (which can be changed by anyone at any time...) about the caesar ciphers and someone (cant even find the post now) mentioned something about Giovanni Batista Porta, in relation to the first clue and the Vigenere cipher being done by Giovan Batista Belaso, then later modified by Porta into a higher security version, I just started googling within those parameters and found this...

http://www.contestcen.com/crypt003.htm

Porta's main formula for his encryption was, "Ci = T (S(Pi) + Ki)" leading me back to the whole tminusk & splust setup.

That and on his myspace page, he points his birthday out a fair amount, being 28, being born on Feb. 20th, etc. I have no clue if it means anything, but it doesn't look right. As far as the Porta formula, I think I made a proper correlation, I just don't know what exactly it is.

Glad to throw my hat in the ring, boys and girls, this is getting fun, if not flat out addictive. See you all in the morning.

I tried posting a reply yesterday but my dang computer froze and I didn't have the text saved so I just gave up.

I have tried deciphering the letters on the disks in about twenty ways using SABOT and also SHOE. Because although SABOT is the root word the meaning is SHOE ie "throwing a shoe in the works". Now that I see the new clue I am almost sure that it is telling us that SHOE or SHOES is the actual root word they are looking for.

I also had put down the disks for a while and looked at the prints thinking that maybe I could work backwards. What I did notice was that on the two prints that make the list;

GOATBASE 1125 -
VULTURE 6485 -
AGOBEAST 7531
CASELOAD 0145
BLUEPRINT 7325
DOLLARBILL 8462
ASTAGEBO 9991
SHOPKEEP 6314
BLEWGREEN 1591
CODEREDD 2744

GOATBASE
AGOBEAST
ASTAGEBO contain the same letters but they have different values next to them.

GOATBASE has the DNA link, Vulture has a link to one of the photos and so does caseload, blueprint and dollarbill.

I've been very busy because my son is graduating today but after all calms down I'll be back to spinning on those dang disks. it is late so I can't really connect with my brain to give you a full synopsis of my conclusions but when my brain clears I will share the info then work some of the brilliant suggestions from Mystatude and Torrey but I will try using SHOE as well as SABOT even though there is no dang E anywhere on the disks. I am not making any damn sense but I am happily confused and look forward to registering so I can chat with some of my new friends in my head.

Have a GREAT DAY everybody!

Just notice in your post that

GOATBASE
AGOBEAST
ASTAGEBO

all unscramble into SABOTAGE

I am going to look at the rest.

Repeated Letters

I don't know if this makes any difference, but all of these "words" have double letters in them except for "BLUEPRINT"

GOATBASE (A)
VULTURE (U)
AGOBEAST (A)
CASELOAD (A)
BLUEPRINT
DOLLARBILL (Lx4)
ASTAGEBO (A)
SHOPKEEP (E & P)
BLEWGREEN (Ex3)
CODEREDD (Dx3 & Ex2)

Two more clues from myspace

This one about clue 4

Here's the flag it's talking about to refresh everyone's memory, the YOU ARE STANDING INTO DANGER flag from clue 4. It's double meaning is that it also stands for the letter U.

The other clue looks like it's concerning the final puzzle.

Also, when do you guys get together to brainstorm in chat?

I am looking through these clues at work..but just for a record--on this piece of the microfilm in the post above mine, they spelt received wrong. "I before E, except after C". Also, SIMPLY is capitalized....possibly and allusion to the discs?

I dont know if it means anything..but just throwing it out there. I am going to continue working on this.

combining two of the blue pieces, we now have
Code:
Name  __________  Flag   ________
Piece __________  Color  ________
Cell  __________  Number ________
                  X      ________
and 4 circles, both on the blueprint and on this latest clue/hint/nudge.

I'll have to revisit our trail, but offhand I think we have the following:
Code:
Name  _spencer_  Flag   _U_(uniform)_
Piece _knight__  Color  _blue_
Cell  _dna?____  Number ________

I think we'll be stuck until we can decipher the string
9*131344*53 5*131344*4*3 4*131344335

Detailed instructions for using IRC can be found here.

Once you're in #unfiction, you can ask around as to whether there's a room for your specific game.

sure, read the detailed post Phaedra links to, or just use the chat applet at http://www.unfiction.com/chat/ and put sabotage in the channel box. Then click the yellow-ball-with-the-green-arrow non-intuitive-icon to start.

As for "spamming" the boards, it's what the forum is for! Chat is ephemeral, while a forum post can be referred to at a later time and by people not online 24/7. Go ahead and post!

/me tosses out the exclamation points!!! it's raining enthusiasm today!

yeah, what's up with this? i happened upon the realsabotage site a while ago but there's this odd lack of depth to all the content. like, what network is it supposed to be on? is LM beasely just singlehandedly trying to change the face of reality TV and hoping that a network gets wise in the process and buys his concept? not to mention $10million is like an unheard of number in reality tv prize amounts. anyone else you know gotten any responses from this dude?

Did anyone go to the open casting call yet? Just wondering, because that would be a good gauge of the legitimacy of this show.

Ok..back to cracking - or atleast attempting- this code.

Sabotage

I may have missed earlier postings, but has everyone noticed that evrything in this puzzle (or almost everything) is of a nautical orientation? A Spencer is a type of sail, Popham developed the earliest nautical numerical communication system, Wheatstone developed telegraph and cipher and Porta, although from around the mid 1500's also dabbled in cryptographs and was an Italian from Venice (home to MANY sailors). A "porta" is also a type of portable boat. And the mention of Newport On the Levee in Cincinnatti. And the double meaning for the nautical flag is that it can stand for U OR D depending on which key you use. I was thinking maybe the word was "SCUT" which is short for "scuttle" a nautical brand of sabotage. Any thoughts?

cipher disks?

wondering how this clue helps to decipher the disks

i was thinking the picture might actually be a beetle, to bring some light to what minus means, becuase a weevil without a nose is essentially a beetle. But then what do booties or shoes have to do with it?beetle booty? nose shoe? snout? if its another gay remark to satob becuase of the root part, well then i dont wanna waste my time. but then satob could be 1-5 instead of 6-0... i dunno. this is confusing.
