Yes, to the best of my knowledge, as Giskard mentioned, none of the moderators of the Unfiction PotC/Volvo forum are participating in the contest. We're doing it 'cause we like the community and because SpaceBass has compromising pictures of us.

So, it's with the utmost affection for all of you that I'm locking this thread. It still seems to be attracting some personal spats, and I don't really see that it's contributing anything substantive to the enjoyment of the puzzle trail. Maybe I'm just cranky, but I just don't see this going anywhere good, and like dhoule, I think the possibilities of this discussion as appropriate to this particular forum have more or less been exhausted.

That said, I think the ethics of competitions versus ARGs is a fascinating and worthwhile topic, and I'd like to invite those so inclined to continue it in the Meta forum, where, perhaps, removed from direct proximity to a competition with a monetary prize, it can flourish without rancor.
