[SPEC] Movie Tie-In The movie opens on the July 7th and the game ends July 12th... anyone consider that one or more answers the final puzzles might depend on you seeing the movie? That would be a dirty trick... but then again, we are dealing with pirates

well I'll see the movie, but if a clue from the movie is needed, I'll be forced to download the movie

By then everyone will have at least had a chance to see the movie, download or not.

this question showed up on the official blog awhile back. July 7 is the US release date. The movie doesn't open until July 22 in Japan, and I highly doubt they would handicap one of the finalists like that.

Yes, I agree. I was worried. I mean, it's a marketing thing, right? So they get you into the Volvo dealership by making you claim a map... how do they get you into the movie theater? They hide clues in the movie so you need to see it (maybe more than once) to solve the last puzzle.
But... if the movie doesn't open for JP early enough then you're right, that can't be the case. Good, that would have been stressful.

Worse than pirates, you're dealing with Disney!

It is highly unlikely that they'd put a clue into the film as a way of forcing you to go see it. If your doing this then of course your going to interested in the film, unless... your just doing it for the car or for fun.
Go see the film as i'm sure it'll indeed knock you down dead.

I disagree with some opinons here. We've been talking about Volvo time and again BUT, Disney is also involved. You don't get a custom Disney paintjob all over your Volvo or Disney on EVERY opening Hunt webpage without co-sponsorship!
I am willing to wager that seeing the movie WILL be a critical aspect to this contest. For those who thought otherwise (due to the movie's release in Japan being later), make a note that the final leg dates are being determined by Volvo for AUGUST. This might be the reason Japan is getting thier clues earlier. Perhaps there is some relation to movie release dates for each region.
That being said, as much as we might be able to "cheat" by early entry into Japans sight, it wouldn't make a difference as the game will be leveled out with the release of the movie.

movie tie-in Usually no purchase is required to enter a contest like this one. I would think buying a movie ticket might be considered a purchase (here in New York the going rate is about $10.50.) If so, the contest shouldn't require you to see the movie. (and I know that Disney won't want to encourage pirating of copies of the movie.) So perhaps there won't be a requirement to see the movie?
Although, I suppose, a clue could tie into any movie trailer or on-line stuff that Disney has put up for promoting the movie.

seeing the movie... I stand corrected Rose. I should have looked at the big bold letters at the begining of the terms and conditions page.
1. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
I guess that settles it...
There is a quicktime trailer link on the contest website so, you could be right there as well.

Hmmm, is Disney really involved here? I see nowhere in the rules and eligibility that procludes employees of the Walt Disney Co. from participating. If Disney had any hand in creating this game, wouldnt that eliminate Disney workers? Am I missing something???

Disney Involvment... Yes, I think it is safe to say Disney is involved. You can't just plaster the Disney name and artwork all over your contest and car without some type of collaboration. I deal with this all day long at work and I can guarantee there is some co-sponsorship.
Not to mention: If anyone has taken the time to visit the offical movie website link, directly off The Hunt website, I think you will find the Flash design and treasure hunt games eerily similar to The Hunt website. If I had to guess, it is the same design team. People seriously interested in this game should investigate all prospects. Please view and tell me if I am wrong...
