I'm still kinda confused as to what the Retrievers are looking for us to do.
They give us clues, so we come up with answers to the clues, but how do they relate to www.richerbroaderdeeper.com or what exactly is the point.
Anyone want to explain it as they understand it?

Well, assuming "next" and "video" are in fact the new clues, the final solve may be something like this:
Welcome, your next video is in the fiberoptic section.
Hopefully it won't be that lame, but maybe that is the idea. Although, I really am just guessing.

Basically as I understand it is they are giving us a sequence of hints to find words to make up a new clue. each day they give a hint, the answer to that hint is a single word. That word is something that is written somewhere on the richerdeeperbroader page but the hint is not, they only mention the page because the word will exist on it somewhere. I have a feeling we don't even need to check the page to solve all the clues.
So far if the Mandrake blog is real we have 'Welcome, your next video' and i assume the next few clues will read something like 'is located here ...' and will hopefully be non rachel related and hopefully have some real info that we need.

Ah man, now I have that song stuck in my head and I don't even know all the lyrics. I just keep hearing "video killed the radio star."
So I take it #1, #2, and #5 are meaningless. I was going to say "Close Encouters of the 3rd Kind" for #2.

Two more hints today, As soon as I figure them out I'll post them up top. Oh and it looks like the ROT password change is coming later today. As I keep reading it theres a LOT of info in todays thread as to things that will be happening on ROT and Mandrake's Myspace.

Acording to Fiberoptician, though, we should have SIX words.

I'm reaching out but I wanna make sure we're all on the same page. Here's where you all should be right now. You have four words. Today you can pick up two more hints for the hint hunt (I love saying that it sounds funny and dirty) for a total of... say it with me children, "six!" Wait, I gotta message... I'll be right back.
So, where are the other two?
Hmm.....I dunno. The posts on RoT are very confusing, aren't they? They're hard to read, very cryptic...perhaps a better puzzler than I can get some more out of this.

Fiberoptician, 8:27 pm: I spoke to this doctor friend of mine and he's agreed to help me the only way he can. A short PS with a WORD that will lead you to the first part of my special super secret thing-ama-whatsit.
What doctor friend is he referring to? Should we assume that the PS reference means an email or some other contact from this friend will reveal the clue word (which, by the way, is in caps 6 times in FOs posts)?
And curiously, if you enter the word "welcome" after http://www.richerdeeperbroader.com a backslash is appended to it, suggesting that the "willkommen/welcome" might be the clue word we're looking for, but the site hasn't been updated yet (this doesn't seem to happen for other words added after that address, at least in IE).
Or maybe I'm just being the devil in the details.

After reading it a couple times, it sound like there will be another thread today to give us words 5 and 6, which will most likely come after the password is changed, hes just giving people a heads up so we can get back into the site later. Fiber decided to do his own clue giving game which will last through saturday in which you take each of the 3 words he gives us and add them to the end of www.richerdeeperbroader.com/ to get some "goodies". The doctor he is refering to is Wally Bole, when the password is changed you will need to re enter your email to get the new newsletter with a new password in it. The p.s. of Bole's letter will contain the first word of Fibers 3 word game (1st word from Bole's letter, 2nd word from Mandrake's blog and 3rd word from Fiber himself).

The solution to this was worked out after 'porter' stopped working. Before entering the new site password, you have to submit an email address again. This generates an auto-response email containing a new edition of the newsletter. Therefore, the rest of the puzzle trail continued in the new thread [UPDATE] RoT- New Newsletter-6/29 -- and we didn't even have to wait for Friday and Saturday clues from Fiberoptician to gather all three words.

It's amazing how much new stuff I can miss while at work. Great job to everyone involved in cracking Fiber's puzzle early. I'm pretty sure by now the two newest clues were in Bole's letter so I'm adding them to the top of this thread.

We have the promised Saturday update... and the boards are back!
There's a new thread on the RoT forum called The clue's the thing . It's their usual mock-silly stuff that's barely comprehensible.
Anyway, it ends with this:
Quote:
DSLerator 10:43am You need to get a clue.
iobiSeeingYou 10:44am But from where my love?
DSLerator 10:45am You get it from the waitress! THE END?
BroadBandBeatnik 11:04pm That stunk.
Fiberoptician 11:05pm SORROW
BroadBandBeatnik 11:04pm What?
Fiberoptician 11:05pm Nothing.
Again *cough* we know what SORROW is for. (and does it seem like they know that we know?)
The other part, though, about the waitress, must be the clue to the word trail. So what do you get from the waitress? You get the CHECK.
But still no idea on how this is supposed to lead us to anything..
