I conceed to drizjr

I had been working on my formal proof for two days and am only 2/3 done, but this is how I did it, but I threw out letters to come up with my solution, looks like I should not have thrown them out. I also did it with scraps of paper and using my finger on the screen the first time so it looks like I made a mistake. I think this is the right solution. I salute you drizjr. you did a fine job! very good! -rex

Yes, I'm not seeing the lines the same way either. Line 39 for me is:

"am not sure that i even told her that, perhaps it is merely a"

Would they tell us they messed up if we asked them directly on the Yahoo board? Because it seems like a helluva good solve to me.

Spacebass, please delete this post if I've done it wrong.

12th November, 2002. 6:56 pm. beyond the fourth wall...

had a memory last night surface in the midst of an attempt to dream. i say
attempt because such a thing as sleeping appears to be going the way of
the dodo and there aint nothing i can do about it except watch the lambs
leap over me and laugh at the absurdity of such things. counted sheep my
entire life and look where it got me.

the memory was of rachel. soft skin, hair red as the warmest fire even
when she was very young. she wasnt sleeping either that night and it was
as though there were something looking at her whil e i tried to put her to
sleep. she kept looking over my shoulder--not unfocused or sleepy but
actually looking at it and when i asked her what she was looking at, she
smiled wide and said 'the man' and i turned around-believing for a
moment there would actually be someone there (after all, i could
remember the past then although now i dont know why i was sure
someone would be there) but of course the room was empty.

who hasnt had an invisible friend in their lives? you all have, you know
you have. i think some of you even know what friend im talking
about--many had jesus, some had santa or the easter bunny or whatever,
but theres someone out there who contacted me at the hotel and spoke
just one sentence before hanging up--

'when i was young, i saw what you see and it terrified me and forced me
to ignore what is there all the time.'

sounds like nonsense, doesnt it but its not it is not it is exactly what i am
talking about, although it worries me that she found the hotel because i
havent mentioned it anywhere because of the invasions of my home and
just in case it wasnt something simple i am not going to give them any
other way to find me.

but i was talking about her, about my rachel. she was looking over my
shoulder talking to 'the man' and i asked her what she was talking about
and she said that he wanted to speak to his wife and family and that he
thought she was very sweet and he knew that she could help him if she
wanted to do so. well i was flabbergasted and terrified. babies her age
(she was 2 or 4 or something like that) shouldnt have any such knowledge
of something that deep and i immediately told her she wasnt to talk to him
any longer because that would be opening doors and those doors would
open soon enough for her anyway (although sooner than i expected,
obviously, because she wasnt supposed to go after the fish on her own
and i am not sure that i even told her that, perhaps it is merely a
fragmented memory of what i wanted to tell her, what i wanted to say that
would make her okay and stop and everythings fine, dear, it really is,
there is no reason to cry anymore.)

what was i talking about?

oh, yes, the woman who called me today. she said just that one thing and
then hung up, but she left me an email address at the front desk later.
havent had the courage to contact it-her-yet, because of what happened
last night and today and this afternoon. did i mention that? i must have, i
must have written about it earlier today or else here i am again writing
what has already been written and i wonder how jesus dealt with the
knowledge that he gained with his connections because its clearly making
it hard for me to concentrate. perhaps thats why he was always walking
around and speaking slowly as if to children-perhaps that was the only
way he could communicate his thoughts without getting them jumbled
together and making a mash out of things.

the point here is that i went by the hospital today and tried to talk to mike.
hes still under the weather and under the control of the drugs however
and they said it might be another day or two. dammit, the issue is getting
out of hand.

can you imagine what its like to be able to smell someone as though they
were rotten meat? to be able to lift your eyes and (my EYES, not my
eyes) and (you understand the difference yet?) and (because if not, then
someone should take the time to look back through the journal entries
because i know that ive been clear on this, at least, i think i have been)
and realize that if you got close enough to be sure of who it was youd be
incapable of doing anything about it because of the pain that smell would
cause?

where is the librarian???

this hell exists vicariously. i remember grace in nevada, lost and delirious
yet always terrified. youre asking how only one death, our tim, could
overwhelm me?

noah boddy knows.

the trouble i have seen.

please look closely. i need someone to check for me.

I'm uncertain on how to do that paper clip dohicky, and not sure if this will work as far as reproducing the lines as I see them on my browser.
So, if this doesn't work, then please delete it.

live and learn.

I don't think anyone's doubting what you see, I mean it's the best solve for it I've seen around....and I certainly never even came close.

I think what people are suggesting is that someone made a booboo when they created this puzzle if what you have is the correct answer.

Not because you have the right answer, but because they didn't take into account that not everyone will see the page in the same way. No matter which way I look at it, the line 39 I see is a different one from that you see.

That's why sentences would have made mor sense, there would be the same amount of sentences for everyone no matter what you're browser width.

Good job....I know you must have put in a lot of work because I've spent HOURS on it with NIL to show...lol

Just as a side note on what I was trying....lol

I tried the sentence/number/left to right/right to left thing, but I thought we may have been given a clue to unscrambling the letters in one of the sentences.

"can you imagine what its like to be able to smell someone as though they were rotten meat?"

cem, that is a good catch, and a great explanation for an otherwise awkward sentence choice. File it away for future use.
