At about 36 seconds into the video, you'll see a screen from a computer in the attached image. I made out some words:

Doing a google search gave me this page, which is not in game, but could be informative: Palimpsest and the Incunabula HyperMystic Writing Pad

Doing some research into palimpsests makes me think it could have something to do with the m13p.jpg that's been giving us trouble in the Mystes puzzle. I'll post my speculations regarding that in the mystes thread.

Just to point out what's in that link:

Here's the exact text that you're seeing in the blurred image:

Quote:
"Hypertext provides for multiple authorship, a blurring of the author and reader functions, multiple reading paths, and extended works with diffuse boundaries. With the inclusion of sound, graphics, video, and other media as nodes, hypertext (here often referred to as hypermedia) expands the world available to a writer." "The Electronic Labrynth" See: http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/elab/elab.html

And its purpose?

"Each artwork would be a consciously-devised "seduction machine" or magical engine meant to awaken true desires, anger at the repression of those desires, belief in the non-impossibility of those desires. Some artworks would consist of settings for the realization of desire, others would evoke and articulate the object/subject of desire, others would shroud everything in mystery, still others would render themselves completely translucent. The artwork should shift attention away from itself as the privileged icon or fetish or desirable thing, and instead focus attention on liberatory energies." Hakim Bey, "The Palimpsest".

The fact that there's this website was shown:

http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/elab/elab.html

leads me to believe that it's probably important.

Thought this might be a hint telling us to take a look at this.

http://www.incunabula.org/ebooks.html

And this looks kind of cool:

http://www.psymon.com/incunabula/

And this:

http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/incunabula/

And for wiki fans:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incunabula

And by all means go here and have a look around, as this is the home page where the print was taken from. Seriously have a look around.

http://www.geocities.com/harlaquinn_2000/index.html

This is interesting:
http://deoxy.org/irc/index.htm
As well as their home page:
http://deoxy.org/

I know some of you veterans to CTW have seen most of this but some of us haven't so save the fish for another day.

Below is an image of the CD you see in the video take from http://www.incunabula.org/PDFS/inc-iso.zip Even more reason I believe we are being pointed to that site.

Highly Recommended

For those of you that can, I highly recommend that you download this and burn it to CD.

http://www.incunabula.org/PDFS/inc-iso.zip

Use this to download without having to burn to cd.

http://storeandserve.com/download/305392/Inc.zip.html

You will have to unzip it and navigate to the autorun folder and click on autorun.exe or just use Adobe Reader and Real Player for the audio. Hope this helps.

[Edit] For those who can't wait:

You'll find the above image of the CD, the map shown in the history video, an eye that looks like the CD pictured above and some images with that
Palimpsest writing stuff, and a lot more I don't want to spoil the fun.

Wow, that certainly looks like the CD in the film to me!

Now to figure out what to do with all of this information.

If you can't, let me know and I'll help with an alternate way.

To satiate my curiosity till I can get home and burn it, could you elaborate a little as to what's on the disk? Audio? mixed media?

the iso contains an autolauncher menu, one main Incunabula pdf, two extra ones (brochure.pdf and secret.pdf) and four rm (RealMedia) audio files (two seem to be interviews about ongs hat/incunabula, ones an interview with an Ong's Hat Survivor :O and one spooky music rm)

Also at 28-29 sec. is a handwriten bit of paper (also apparently on the computer screen) Not in a language I readily know. The screen capture is not clear enough for me to get a clear representation of the images, do they look familiar to any of you?

I would have to say this was the pertinent bit of text:
Quote:
In a metaphorical analysis of how the psyche "records" material, how one experiences the world through traces of previous experiences, Freud used the example of The Mystic Writing Pad - that dime store toy and carnival novelty in which a carbon or wax topped piece of cardboard is overlaid with a piece of plastic. Once the plastic is lifted, the writing "magically" disappears. However, the carbon underlay retains the traces of the original.

Jaques Derrida, the French philosopher and Deconstructionist concluded that perception is a kind of writing machine like the Mystic Writing Pad. Commenting on Freud's metaphor, Derrida notes the fact that the marks on the pad are not visible due to the stylus leaving a deposit on the sheet of plastic and the marks only become visible because of the contact with the subsurface of the the wax or carbon. None of us, Derrida claims, apprehend the world directly, but only retrospectively; our sense of that which is beyond ourselves is the product of previous memories, previous writing

So we can have two theories.

1. This Aglaura is a different one [alternate world - an Earth 2 per travel cult theory] Some sort of temproal/spacial rift has allowed memories from the other Aglaura to percolate through.

2. This Aglaura is the same one but has had all the other memories erased and replaced, but the act of erasing left behind hiden traces that can be decoded if one knows how to get at them.

3. 1 AND 2 are both correct, 2 being how 1 is explained.

Perhaps finding the masks will help us decide which...

Which leaves me with an unrelated question...
Why can't Peter from Mysterytown find Aglaura? Twisted Evil

Not even close to clear enough to get anything from. The only thing I can say is that it is being displayed in windows paint based on the toolbar icons in the upper left.

These two options - or the combination of both of them reminds me of the explanation for what happened in time travel in Michael Crichton's Timeline. The people never returned to their exact timeline but to (I believe) a newly created one. As always, Crichton goes into a lot of explanation of how this is all possible through Quantum Physics.

What if when things went back to "normal" after the confrontation at the end of CTW1 there was a bried split in the "time/space continuum" and now the branches are weaving themselves back together?

It's an interesting coincidence, don't you think, that Mr Leeds posted this video around the same time I recieved another mysterious email from the Walker of the Woods? (For those of you not yet familiar with the strange connections, check out http://www.mysterytown.com/unsolvedmysteries.php) I'm beginning to think that, even if these two are not the same person, they must think a lot alike. -Peter of MysteryTown
