thoughts

From what I have read I think that everyone has thought not only all of those things but a thousand other diverse ideas. Some are very good others are of the Elvis was here variety!! The speculation is good fun though

One thing for sure. We will NOT be able to guess the final destination or lat/long numbers until the final clue is given. If we could guess beforehand then the preceding puzzles would be a waste of cerebral efforts by the competition team and they will want to make it very hard ( as stated) otherwise thousands will send in answers at the same or similar times. Speculate all you want, but I or you will never guess. I would also suggest that the final answer will be slightly more complex than those before. Although along with certain newspaper suggestions, Elvis driving the Volvo has been spotted on the Moon!!

OK, so at least we understand Goon is an Elvis fan. I would prefer finding anything to give myself the cerebral jump rather than sit back and lose. For those of us that are absorbing all of these ideas, there is certainly the possibility one theory may come screaming through to us, the second we see the final clues. I would much rather be in THAT position. I think we're doing a good job bouncing ideas off of each other and injecting as much logic as we can to validate ourselves.

As far as thousands of people sending their answers in at the same time. That server is going to be hit hard regardless of whether those people have the right answer or not. I think everyone understands that they have an extremely small window of time in the semi-finals. (Thus, the reason for the "time-zone" differentials in opening the site) All I can say is; I'd hate to be someone playing this with dial-up...

I'd like to lead this into a new topic. We have given little in regards to the Volvo map with the code. Aside from the map looking old world, has anyone noticed more oddities? I almost want to hit this thing with 3-d glasses due to the coloring. Also, there is a parrot-shape in China, etc...

Elvis

Actually I am not an elvis fan. What I hope is that the final puzzle is really hard and give us all some really tough mental gymnastics, banging the head on a wall and the odd drop of blood before the exclamation ' oh my god, that was so simple reveals itself'. and we marvel at the cunning guile of an answer that we could not have thought of before. I love speculation and what people have written or think the location may be. I just hope we are all wrong, except me because I believe I know where it is buried and I even have the coordinates ready!! But I bet I am wrong. Hence my reference to Elvis who may be on Castaway Cay.

If anyone is or knows a botanist, this CNBC host claims to be standing on the treasure - there are some trees in the background, which is a good clue to a specific region of the world.

I also suggest using the plant life and color of dirt in the intro movie on the website as clues.

Well, I'm no botanist, but I'd say that tree is definitely one of the greenish, smudgy type! Cool

How did this CNBC person make his claim exactly btw?

final location

i vote grand bahama island.
a good portion of the movie was filmed here.

i was there getting married early last month, and we boarded (under cover of beer) a docked pirate ship - flying dutchman - which was used in the filming.
the boat/barge was parked in the grand bahama waterway on private property.

there was also a construction crane in the background.

anwyay, that's my guess

While I think you're looking into this far too much, just use the pause button on the media player and do a printscreen.

EDIT: Embedded ginormous link in quoted post. --Phaedra
