How "I" got it was a Fibbonacci sequence, to be honest, was that I asked myself why they were adding thos specific numbers. Then I thought that the most obvious was the Fibbonacci sequence.

The fibbonacci sequence is a sequence of numbers where each continuing number is created by using the last two numbers. So, starting at zero (and one) we have 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,etc... where 0+1=1, 1+1=2 and so on.

If you'll notice, all the numbers that are added are in that sequence.

Now, the next part, the part that looks like Binary. Obviously it's not standard Binary, seeing how that'd be to easy and how each line would give gibberish if decoded, if they'd give anything at all. So here's where the addition problems come in. They're basically telling you how to read the Binary. The problem "38 = 34 + 3 + 1" if changed to a Binary function would be this: "38=10000101" with the binary number on the right side always the lowest.

OR
Code:
34 21 13 8 5 3 2 1
 1   0   0 0 0 1 0 1


So if you had 101 it'd be:
Code:
3 2 1
1 0 1
or 3+1=4
and 10110 would be:
Code:
8 5 3 2 1
1 0 1 1 0
equaling 8+3+2=13

I hope I haven't confused anyone TO badly.

It's a whacked-out form of binary where instead of the traditional 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 sequence, they're using Fib.

EDIT: If you're having trouble with this, it's because they didn't use the WHOLE Fibonacci sequence, only those in red, below:
0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21

EDIT2: (Example)
101000
This equals one 13, no 8's, one 5, no threes, no twos and no ones for a total of 18. The 18th letter in the alphabet is "R", so "101000" = "R".
They used as many places as necessary to generate the "binary" value. That's why "1" = "A", and not "0000001"

So, it works out to

I may not be the best at the puzzles but I do try to learn as I go from you all.... I saw the binary right off and that it wasn't 'straight forward binary' but am not clear on how the numbers at the top get you to Fibonacci nor how that helps me.... if anyone has the time could you 'break this down' ..... 'explain it like I was a 5 year old' (love that quote).... thanks!

First, look att he adding operations; apart from the initial 89 or 34 number, all the additions use numbers 1,2,3,5,8. That's a Fibonacci sequence: 1 - 2 - 3 - 5 - 8 - 13

Now, 'traditional binary' translates the 1s to 16-8-4-2-1, so we use the Fibonacci sequence instead of that 'translation':
13 - 8 - 5 - 3 - 2 - 1

Now take one of the binary codes, ie 100010. Each 1 indicates if there is the corresponding translation or not: no 1s, one 2, no threes, no fives, no eights, one 13. Adding 2 + 13 you get 15, or letter 'O'

Yeah. I even posted something elsewhere about the same time as that post with no problems. I think just someone serverside messed up and and had it set July 4th serverside... for about 15 minutes or so...
