If so what are they?

The $10,000 game is somewhat pointless. It's a random trivia question that sort of indirectly deals with the show. The second question was "What state is the Treasure State?" (Montana, where they went to get to the copper mine) The third question was "Who first mentioned the 'shot heard around the world?" (Emerson, because one of the fake clues dealt with the shot heard around the world). I don't recall the first question.

SPEC

You all are brilliant! I've been solving the weekly puzzles, but I've been making some pretty lame guesses until I found this discussion (through Google, rather than Ask.com, btw). After reading all of your posts and doing a bit more digging, I came up with a semi-coherent guess, so I figured I'd share it with you, fwiw. I hope you don't mind.

My guess is the Jefferson Memorial, and here's why...

Clue 1: Rush to where the Treasure stands.
Jefferson is on Mt. Rushmore. In the Jefferson Memorial, Jefferson is standing. The quote inscribed around the memorial are from a letter Jefferson wrote to Benjamin Rush.

Clue 2: Look on water for it is inspiration.
The memorial is on the water (Tidal Basin).

Clue 3: In dark times, the words form.
Reference to the Declaration of Independence, which Jefferson authored during dark times.

The Masons connection, if there is one: Jefferson reportedly was a Mason. The Jefferson Memorial is next to the George Mason Memorial.

Finally, if you've looked at the "stolen puzzle pieces" ...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
From the puzzle pieces, the Jefferson Memorial is in the shape of the rotunda, but it could also be construed as a money bag.

It's my best guess at this point. We'll see how the remaining clues pan out.

Thanks for your help, and good luck, Team Seatbelts! Very Happy

Welcome Scanr, Funny I guessed the same thing before you posted.

GREAT WORK RPGgame! You are the best! Is it just me or dose the body of water look like a guy's head wit the Jefferson monument being a huge snoter?

Anyway, my girlfriend made a great suggestion. Anyone live near Washington DC and can do some snoping? Or maybe just show up at the finally with a Team Seatbelt sign?

I know my local puzzle solving team is game. We would be happy to crash the final sporting Team SeatBelt/Unfiction swag and signage. What about you e_nygma?

back to the coords, funny when I converted them I got the same results. Park and N. Allen. About 20 feet NE of "Community Church of God," which yes is about 2 blocks from W. Broad St. but like I said in my earlier post this is still 2 miles SE of the Genworth HQ

6620 W. Broad St.
N 37 36.124
W077 30.899
That's in hddd mm.mmm Map Datum WGS84
that's heading:degrees minutes.decimal minutes

the location we both came up with is at
N 37 33.181
W077 27.670

or

N 37 33'10.92"
W077 27'40.2"
In hddd mm'ss.s"

No offence but, I'm not sure either one of us got their format right.

I'm still going to check out the corner at Park and N. Allen and snap of some pics, couldn't hurt.

It will depend on when the final is and what folks want to be done in the near future. The next few weeks I'm not going to be in town. Still, if I'm here, what the heck.

Given that two people independently identified the same coordinates, I proposed the "Genworth screwed up" theory. They have a track record with the "s, t" -> "the" situation. I mean, there's no possible way I could be wrong. ... ... Laughing I tried to say that with a straight face, I really tried.

While you take a look at the park their on the corner, wander by Genworth (if you can) and take a lat/long reading. Maybe we can find out what it supposed to be and see if its a matter of a swapped or incorrect digit.

No, that was due to me scanning the message and completely missing that part. Embarassed

EDIT: Genworth's right off I64 at W Broad St? According to Google maps, the two sets of directions are off by 4.7 miles. Hmm, and more hmm.

You could maybe argue that the location they give is more or less the geographic center of Richmond. So, the clue tells a player that it will be in Richmond and at this specific spot (which ISN'T at Genworth HQ) is where you need to be.

Also, the clue says "When the time is right, use the coordinates." If I were going to have people traipsing around with GPS units, I might want it away from my corporate offices so that they don't go wandering into the parking lot and harassing my employees. Hence, it's about 5 miles off from HQ proper. Close enough if my employees want to wander down (or need to *do* something at the "right" time), but far enough away that normal business operations won't be impacted.

Finally, if Google Maps is right, they REALLY do not want a bunch of people walking around with GPS units right near the exit/entrance to the interstate. ARG could take on a whole another meaning if they drive in Richmond on 64 like they do out in Charlottesville (a meaning with a trip to the ER).

I'd keep an eye open either on that corner (you said it is a park?) or in the middle of the Monument Avenue traffic circle. Looks like a good place to do something cluish. ("Funny, she didn't look cluish." yeah I know, not exactly the quote)

EDIT 2: Should have guessed that Lee was at that cross roads. If the statue is facing south, it would almost be looking directly at that corner of N Allen & Park.

I think that "using the coordinates when the time is right" means to use them when asked for them in an upcoming flash game or puzzle. The reward for using the coordinates is an additional treasure challenge insurance policy. If you can't find where the clue came from originally:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
PS. This clue is found inside the book about Genworth on the first page of the game.

Hi, Rose. Wink

I went out earlier and took some pics of the spot we converted the coords to.

At this spot my GPSr said I was about 4 feet away plus or minus 6 feet.
(Here)

Behind me about 15-20 feet. A left over from a city-wide art project. (Here)

I could be wrong. But, I think the church is closed down. (Here)

With the church at my back, a view of the traffic circle on Monument Ave. (Here)

A post above questions if Lee is facing south. As you can see in the photo above, indeed Lee and his horse are headed south. However all the Statues have their plaques on the east side. Meaning the statue is a profile view facing east, as is every monument on the street. Except one. The latest addition was Arthur Ashe, who is facing west. No reason was ever given for this.

Was this Richmond's version of DC's "Party Animals?" (where they had donkeys and elephants painted by lots of different artists all throughout the city)?

I'm trying to think of something nice to say about this ...

Yeap, exactly like the "Party Animals" or Cows on Parade in Chicago. (Link)

I should have known Marylin Monroe would have distracted you guys. I just had to take a picture of her.
