I agree with BrickHart. I think the artwork is too well done and others have hacked the sites previously. The map however is very questionable. It looks like someone pulled it into some low-grade program to doctor it. I was intrigued at the source of the two links though. I think it is worth the effort to mull it over since, we're all waiting until the 11th/12th anyway. At least we will be prepared if it is real.

Very good point Sassy. I need to take a look at that again...

One more thing that's noteworthy....The phrase 'A pirates cove' is technically grammatically incorrect. It should be "A pirate's cove" or "A pirates' cove".
Yeah, this is nitpicking but my spell/grammar checker pointed it out right away. You would think Volvo would be using one.
Hmmmm

I'm thinking they're legit. The only other possibility in my head is that they're artwork from the film, which I haven't yet seen.

If they're fake, they had to be a deliberate plant, not just somebody doofing around in Photoshop. Also interesting that Moser Inc is a consulting company specializing in data security and intelligence, and they're tracking who views the page. I'm guesing the contest marketing folks are trying to get a better feel for how popular this thing has become.

When that map first appeared several weeks ago, someone (Prometheus, I believe) pointed out that the "extra leg" is just the first part of the dashed line (from the right hand side of the map, to under the "Y" in STORMY).

Look at that map, and compare it with your saved map and you'll see what I mean. And yes, a very poor editing job.

Just found this on http://pirateloot.blogspot.com/

Interesting that the source file from
http://www.moser-consulting.com/portroyal.html
shows a hit counter stats to
http://www.counter-gratis.com/33432.html
tracking the location of hits..

It's a German/Austrian site

Ok, one more and then I'll leave this one alone.
Would Volvo be this inconsistent in it's grammar, especially when it comes to a phrase in the actual title of the film?

See image here.

What do you think?

Someone said this guy has been releasign other screen shots before being unlocked and they wqere real. Where arethese puzzles and dates and times when they were posted against when the puzzle was released?

Grammer is big and that almost seals the deal. The game programers have been very careful with their wording, considering the words ARE the clues at times. Here is the first part of the game...

See image here

Sorry for the crappy photo editing, its late...

I'm starting to lean towards fake.

On these new Port Royal images, the text appears by itself. On all the previous puzzles, the text has appeared inside a black, slightly transparent box. Why change horses midstream?

It's gotta be a fake. The other site's are grammatically correct. I just can't get over how well done it is. You should also note that the footer matched the UK footer. I guess that wouldn't mean much though... A UK culprit perhaps?

Things will probably get dirtier as the 12th nears...

FAKE

Here's the other kicker: on the US site, the word Theater is used, on the UK site, the word Cinema is used. The upper right hand box on these PR images says Theaters, and the bar at the bottom says UK.

Good fakes, though.

So who will be the first to set forward and insert their foot into their mouth on the 12th when you see those pics as your new puzzle?

Wink
