Europe is where those crazy French people come from. I'll try to hook up a mic, but what program on my computer will record it? Sound Recorder sucks, and I don't exactly own anything else. What settings should I use so no one has to deal with a massive file. And finally, whose willing to host the file once I have it (cause I sure can't)?

The idea is a group of countries pretend to be freinds, so that their businesses have a broader range of customers to screw.

The politicians from these countries invite each other over for parties and to pat each other on the back for how well they all get on.

The countries sign agreements in order to provide strength in a crisis. Of course when a crisis arises they all scatter and blame the rest for the problem.

After the crisis they then spend several months discussing (over dinner of course) how to adapt the agreements to make sure none of them get blamed when it happens the next time.

All the countries follow the same universal set of rules regarding health, pay, workers rights etc, unless they don't want to in which case they opt out with no consequences.

Simple really. Very Happy

Audacity works on several different operating systems, is free, and the source code is available: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

If you post it to the board or shoot it my way in an email, I'll mirror it on the Netninja archives.

You could try this, It's quite small and you can dl the additional MP3 compressor on the same page.

I've not used it for recording, but I kjnow it does do it. It's a tidy little tool with a few built in filters and effects.

As for hosting, it won't be huge in MP3 format, you could pop it on here.

Is it me, or do the sounds in the background (and PARTICULARLY at the very end) of the clip sound a little like the noise you hear when Neo exits the matrix for the first time? Like a groan or a cry from someone being time-stretched to infinity... I've attached a clip of what neo's exit sounded like for comparison.

The seconds I'm talking about in the previously-attached MP3 occur at 6, 9, 15 and 21 seconds (sometimes UNDERNEATH or inbetween people talking so listen out for them)

... Could the recording be perhaps a collage of audio from parts of the matrix that have leaked out, either by accident or by design, or could it be the side-result of a hack to get people out of the matrix? Maybe several people were 'freed' in a short space of time, perhaps while the power failure was occurring as a distraction... And this is what happens as a side-effect when the hack is performed...

... Just a thought.

To the person who has the recording of the clip on their answermachine, I suggest you try recording it several times, and monitoring the level of the audio, in case it comes out distorted the first time.

If the tape cassette is the same as you use in those personal note taking recorder jobs, you could try get a hold of a personal note recorder that has a headphone out socket, and get one of those cables with headphonec-cable-sized plugs on both ends. One end into the note recorder, another into the Line In socket on your sound card (not the microphone one if you can help it), set up your sound card to record from the Line In in the Volume Control properties, and boom away you go in Goldwave.

That'd probably get you better quality results, tho it's not for the faint-hearted Wink

Nice work! Your recording level is a little low, but there's clearly a bunch of stuff at the beginning that we didn't have before.

I'm going to play around and see what I can hear.

There's already something from the guy that talks about the "air locks" or "logs" or whatever--- just before that he says something like "I have no idea where the devil that came from" or so it sounds. I'm going to go listen some more Very Happy

The guy with the accent says:

"I have no idea where the [devil room injector?] came from"

The "devil room injector" part is what I can't quite make out. That's what it sounds like to me. Anybody else got anything on this one Confused Question

Exactly what I thought the first time I heard it.

... more stuff...

The female voice at the beginning (maybe automated?) says this, I'm pretty sure:

"Marcus, this message is being left for you at 5:39 AM, friday morning"
