They do have meeting rooms that are small (for as little as 10 people in the meeting). I'm waiting to hear back for a confirmation on pricing.

An ARG museum just won't be the same without Vic's hat. Sigh.

I'd hate to spend money on a hotel conference, though, since we have no other group/room functions. And if we weren't going to staff it we couldn't leave anything there.

Anyone getting a suite where we can steal your living area for some designated viewing hours? Or maybe Gino's would let us steal a couple extra tables next to us to lay stuff out? Although for that I bet they'll want the big deposit...

You are really wanting me to drag myself into this, aren't you.....
I can wear Vic's hat on the plane.

You gonna get me a cot in your room? I love Chicago Pizza.
I really want to go to the museum (is that Saturday or Sunday?). That Saturday night show sounds so kewl. I'll be doing this on NO SLEEP Friday night (but I survived that on the NY trip).

What's $400? I'd probably blow that playing Pai Gow (but I might also win $400 instead of spending it). Well, I did make $200 on a penny machine Sunday night......

It was Vic's Hat.

I'll get flight reservations tonight if you get me a cot. Amber Joy owes me a glass of champagne Wink

Edit to add: I will arrive at 5:30a on Saturday, leaving 10p on Sunday. Sign me up, Scotty!

Alas, I won't be able to make it for Friday night pizza... my train rolls in at 10 (assuming it's on time Rolling Eyes ) and so the earliest I could make it would be after you'd left. I am staying over the Sunday, though, so if anybody else is in the same boat they're welcome to join me on a Ginos raid for Sunday supper or something.

I'm also strongly tempted to make a quick side trip up to Vernon Hills on Saturday morning to pick up some computer hardware from CDW's headquarters/warehouse and am wondering if anybody has any tips on getting there from the hotel. I'm cool with a biggish taxi fare, if that ends up to be the best alternative; it's got to be cheaper than FedEx plus hiring a broker.

-- Steve's so looking forward to any other zaniness in store for that day, or similar goofiness on Sunday.

YAAAAAAYYYYYYY!

Oh and I'll bring some swag for the ARG Museum. Hell, we can set it up temporarily in my room if it comes to that.

ARGfest

Having just spent a small fortune on my son's 16th birthday party (yesterday) and our vacation the week before I just don't have the wherewithal to get to Chicago. Seriously - this has been majorly expensive.

I will try to see bagsbee before he goes to add some swag to the ARG traveling museum. Is there a list anywhere of what you have? I only have one or two truly unique items.

I hope you all have a great time! Post lots of pictures and check in with us here when you can! Send postcards!! Lots of love to everyone. I miss you guys already, which is silly really because you haven't gone anywhere. Have a great time and tell us all about it. Very Happy

ok, I've heard back from the hotel about the conference room and the one available is $195 for a full day. I'd be willing to chip in a big chunk for that, but $195 is a bit steep to handle myself. Embarassed So let me know what you all think. Otherwise we can use a room to set things up. It might be a bit crowded, but if we'll deal.

Another thing I thought I'd mention - there's a city pass available that is really quite a good deal if you're planning on visiting more than one museum during your stay. It's $49.50 for 5 museums (general admission). We're obviously not going to have time to take the group to all 5 museums (probably only the science and industry), but it would be good for anyone who is planning on staying an extra day and really wants to do the museum tour.

Because the boards were up and down, I didn't send out the upgraded amenity list to the hotel on Tuesday. I'll be sending it this afternoon, so if you still want to get on the list now is your last chance for that extra mint! Wink

Any idea how big that conference room is? Does it include anything else like drinks or snacks?

Assuming it isn't super-tiny I'd be willing to put in some for the day, but my funds are a bit limited.

I'm sure the room comes with nothing except maybe tables and chairs. Which hopefully won't cost extra. If you want foodservice in there they will charge.

And we won't be able to lock this room and leave stuff behind.

How about getting it for just Saturday morning - through noon or even 2 or so. We can congregate and do the ARG museum and chat and meet (bring your own sodas). Mandatory attendance so we know who all is in town and schmooze about games. Then the group(s) can pack off downtown to do lunch and museums and whatever and later meet for the dinner at Reza's. I'll pitch in on the cost.

I'll throw $10 into the room rental cost.
What time will it be open? Table for the swag, chairs for us, and then we split up for sightseeing and food. Sounds good to me!

I'd be willing to chip in for the room. I think an ARG museum is a terrific idea. Let's see, whatever shall I bring? Mr. Green

The quote I was given was for the executive boardroom, which according to their site has a long table in it with 10 chairs around it - 280 sq ft. Also, if we reserve it we get it for the whole day for the $195 whether we use it the entire time or not. We can't reserve it for just a few hours.

If anyone going is a fan of video gaming and has a a bit of time to kill, might I suggest heading to "Video Games: Then and Now" or whatever the name of the store is. It's a relatively small locale, but it sells gaming consoles and software from the atari 2600 days through to the 360. I went last time I was in Chicago, and staying at the Hyatt O'Hare it was a quick jaunt on the blue line and a bus ride to reach. Definitely worth a look-see if you have a penchant for classic game consoles.

It may be a fun, short saturday afternoon adventure for interested parties Razz
