I didn't like that part about extreme danger and/or death! That's something to ponder. The whole way it is set up with the morals issues makes me think it will be filmed.

Sassy, I think Volvo wanted to CYA with regards to the final. If they said, we're not liable if you twist your ankle and then a freak tree falls down and breaks your arm, you could sue them. So they went to the extreme and said we are not liable even for your death.

However, such statements aren't worth the paper they're printed on if actual negligence on Volvo's part can be proven. e.g. if they built a structure and it collapsed and killed someone under normal use because of substandard marterials, design, and construction. Or if they asked an untrained person to handle high explosives, and they blew up. But it does cover a wide variety of accidents, from slipping off a 100 foot cliff to drowning in the bathtub.

I know you can't stop anyone from posting the answers, but this fact might make them think twice: it specifically states in the rules that posting an "answer" online is grounds for disqualification.

Can someone please link me to where the rule that " posting an answer online as a ground for disqualifying" a player appears? I haven't been able to find it. Reading all these rules over and over is ruining my vision. Maybe this rule appears elsewhere than in the terms and conditions? I looked around the site and the map and haven't seen it.

OK, nevermind, I see that this thread already addressed this question. I think the idea that collaboration or posting of answers was a grounds for misqualification may have come from an incorrect post on the forums - and it is not contained in any of the rules.

Final Leg

Really, they have set so many parameters already over who does and does not qualify (e.g. driver's license, passport, dwi, felony, smokers, ect...) What happens if all the finalists are retirees? Will we be watching seniors rappel down hundred foot cliffs or fighting waves to retrieve clues with their teeth while swimming?!?! I don't think the final leg will be particularly taxing except, perhaps on the cranium...

Please help- lost my forum notes.

I am not sure what thread to post this under: Does anyone know how to recover a corrupted document? Every time that I visit this forum and find important information on the Volvo contest, I copy that information into a Word document. The document was fine July 9, but on July 10, it will not open. I don't know what happened to it. Work says the path is invalid and Excel says that it is corrupted. I suppose that it is Murphy's Law that it happened right before the final puzzle, because I don't know how anyone could do it deliberately. It is probably bad luck. The document is 1328 KB, so it would take me days to redo it. When I tried Recover My Files, it recovered the temporary file up to July 1. That was 999 KB. I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

If you Google "recover corrupted MS Word document" you should get links to a number of programs -- some free, some not -- that can help you recover a corrupted document.
