[EMAIL] Bruce July 14

On May 14 I sent Bruce an email sympathizing with him and offering to help with the new library anyway I could. My email reads as follows:

Quote:
Hello, I stumbled across the conflict over the Aglaura Library. From the surface, it appears that many people are against upgrading the library. I just wanted to let you know that what you are doing is great. In creating a digital collection of literature, you would not only eliminate theft and physical destruction, it would allow the library to have more books in infinate numbers. I wish that my library would consider such a fantastic proposal. Because of the opposition to this objective, I would like to extend my whole-hearted support. I live somewhat far away from New Jersey, but I do have a (somewhat simplistic) knowledge of HTML. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
Sincerly,
P. Parker

Either today or yesterday Bruce replyed:
Quote:
P,

I'm frankly embarassed it has taken so long to get back to you--I appreciate the
support you've provided over these past several weeks, particularly with regards
to the Phase 2 vote. In principle, I'm completely aligned with your philosophy
regarding digitization. Obviously, the vote went the other way. Win some, lose
some, amigo.

Perhaps I should have taken you up on your offer to help!

As you've probably read on my blog, I've got mixed feelings about the result and
am not too emotionally distraught about Aglaura's position. The people have
spoken. We shouldn't fret too much, though. The future will arrive ~ just maybe
not as quickly as we'd like it to.

Take care,

Bruce

E-mail from Bruce 7/13 re: an e-mail I wrote to him before we found his blog asking where his blog was. Interesting choice of movies he has Wink

Plot- Superb acting from Edward Woodward as the prim Seargant Howie, and Christopher Lee as Lord Summerisle. Fascinating from start to finish and a real twister of a plot that keeps you hooked right until the final twenty minutes, what appears at first sight to be an innocent search for a missing girl turns into a fascinating exploration of pagan rituals on a remote and sex obsessed Scottish island.

CS,

You can find my blog at www.anonymousfame.com/iambruce. I apologize for not responding sooner, but I've been quite busy with a myriad of personal and professional dilemmas. I'm sure you understand. Also, I was going out of my way to keep my blog rather private, but my "friend", Dale Sprague had the audacity to publish the URL. Well, forgive and forget, right? I trust all is well with you. Sorry to cut this short, but I Netflixed The Wicker Man and I'm dying to watch it.
Tootles,
BA

Yup, I got an email too;

Quote:
Jenna,

So, so sorry for my delayed response. I haven't been able to really dive into my
private email account these last couple months and I'm embarassingly delinquent
in my replies.

The address of my blog is anonymousfame.com/iambruce. I was keeping it on the DL
for a while, but Dale saw fit to run the address on his blog, so there's no use
being shy about it now. Still, I don't think a whole lot of people are surfing
around reading about the inner thoughts of Sprague & Abbott, do you?

Thanks a lot for your wishes on my engagement and pending nuptials. Here's
hoping Diana and I get through the summer so we can enjoy them!

I promise I'll try and be better about responding ~ drop me a note and let me
know what else is going on with you. I enjoy reading emails from
friends--they're a nice diversion from the stress at Marzent and my current
domestic dramas.

All the Best,

Bruce

Can't remember what i sent, it's been so long now.

Bruce,

Do you remember me? I met you over the internet a few years ago, but
our lives took separate paths. Darn work and relatives and stuff like
that kept me away.

Yet things have changed a lot for you (at least, from what I can tell
from your blog - I finally found where I had linked to it so long
ago). Obviously I'm glad to read you have found your sobriety.
Understandable that you deserve many hugs for that.

Many congratulations on your engagement. As I recall, you told me
about first meeting Diana years ago but then she married your business
partner. Kinda funny how little twists and turns make life
interesting. Every little flap of a butterfly's wing can have an
effect halfway across the world. Amazing, isn't it?

Well, I see your company is working on digitizing the local library.
I just got done doing that exact same job (although on a smaller
scale) for my hospital's medical library. See, I got tired of doing
diet instructions and ordering tube feedings and took a sabbatical
from being a dietitian, getting into electronic database management.
Hope you might be interested to know that I'm seeking to relocate to
the East Coast.

I hate to ask this, but maybe I can put in an application for a job?

Take care, Bruce. So we can catch-up, I'll take you out to lunch when
I get to Aglaura. Besides, it seems like there has been so much that
has changed in the past few years. And not just for you. Do please
let me know about the job as well; I would love to work with you and
Marzent.

Heather

And finally, my little email from Bruce.

Bruce wrote:
Dear Heather,

First let me apologize for taking so long to get in touch, but family life and
work at Marzent have been taking their toll. I should let you know, though,
that I appreciate your good wishes and was able to check out your impressive blog (finally!). Yes, things with Diana are pretty exciting, but it's truly a work in progress, you know? When that honeymoon period ends and reality sets in, you get a sense of all the work there is to do to make a relationship a lasting one. Let's not even discuss the kid equation for the time being...

Good to hear that you're looking to migrate to the East Coast, but I have to say, you might want to hold off on getting me your resume. I'm still getting a feeling for this company and I don't think that a recommendation from me would do a prospective employee much good at the moment. I promise to keep it in mind.

Looking forward to lunch in Aglaura (you OK with Indian food?),

Bruce

Hmm, he found my blog on his own? If he did, there is no trace (i.e. didn't leave any comments).
