Has anyone else had the "3 roads" puzzle - there's no discussion of it, so either everybody else thinks it's too easy or nobody else has had it yet?
I found some link to the "3 roads" bit
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It seems to be connected with Oedipus
The 2nd part "Of no importance" I thought might be
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
cypher
However, I can't find anything connecting the two!
Any input would be gratefully received.

axissally,
I can attest that Tesseract's hint applies to the puzzle you're talking about.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you don't see any dots, consider how to turn what you have into some dots.
EDIT: Though the later hint should get you there.

Here's a little hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I was able to get this by thinking of each statement as a crossword clue. All three give the same answer which in turn is the answer to the puzzle. I was able to get the 2nd part pretty quickly and then realized that it answered the other two also, so I would start there.
Here's another way of saying the 2nd part that will probably give it a way:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
useless knowledge

I'm at 86% now with Mr. Emerson. Since that seems to be farther than anyone's admitted getting to with him, let me post what I have:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
My name is Mr. Emerson, and I am dead. There are five ghosts that live in this house, and they like to pretend that they aren't dead. Me, I know I'm dead, I'm not going to pretend otherwise. If you connect to me, I'll let you know something about what's going on here, where they are going, what they are doing. I won't dress up what I have to say, either... provided your soul can make the connection.
I know that they're all saying I did it. That's just because they don't like me, don't like being reminded that they're not alive. Sure, I was there before any of them but only because I heard the crash and wanted to check on that contraption downstairs. Even though I try to stay out of the business of the living, I feel sorry for Madame Z. She needs this thing to work, so I want to make sure that it does.
Ah, contact. I can feel you... maybe your mind is sharp. Want some advice? Keep your eye on that Nickolas guy. That's America's dream right there, pulled himself up by his boot straps. Right. I'll bet you a sawski that he stepped on a bunch of honest guys to get there, used their brains to get him where he is. I know a lot of smart men that were crushed under guys like that. Don't you believe him when he says that he's always at his wife's side. I've seen him roaming around the house at night, poking around at Madame Z's things. He's up to something.
Lahmina needs attention, like a spotlight. She's like a siren, always "look at me, look at me." Always looking at herself in the mirror and adjusting her veil like some showgirl in the spotlight. It would not surprise me that she did this just for attention. Just ask her, I bet she'll throw off that veil and throw herself at your mercy... just so you'll look at her.
[question opportunity that I haven't used yet]
Did you hear about the kid? I should have known. Still, it takes some courage to try a stunt like that doesn't it? If you want my advice, and I know you do... cut the kid some slack. Sometimes the desperate thing seems like the only thing you can do. He was trying to do something right. I know that doesn't always end the way we expect.
Hey, I've got something else for ya. Nick was outside last night, looking up at Madame Z's window. He was drawing something in the dirt. I just happened to wander by after he'd left, and I saw what he'd written. "Z" and a little ways away "DZ" and further away "DM." DZ. Hmm.
There's a body involved, and they hurt Madame Z. I don't care why, I don't care for reasons. If I still was a body, I'd come down on this fool, whoever he is, so hard that he'd wish his parents hadn't been born. These people here, these are my people! Or...
Maybe they aren't my people. Maybe they were like me. Nickolas looked very guilty when he went out to help the gumshoe. Bigwigs like him just want to play power games. He's playing one right now, isn't he? I bet he's helping that body. But why dig up a grave?
