If you took part in the competition, in the spirit of it, then you cannot be a loser!!
Lighten up.
The losers are the ones who's sole reason for entering was for gain, enjoy the fact that we have all pulled together this last month, & let's hope the winner comes from amongst us, then we are all winners!
do not be sad.
cheers

52,000+ from the US take part "The hunt, in which Volvo is conducting as part of its official promotion of Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," drew more than 52,000 U.S. participants. The individuals participated for about a month in a challenging, engaging and fun-filled online adventure at www.volvocars.us/thehunt to solve a series of online clues and puzzles using an official treasure map obtained at Volvo dealerships nationwide."

participants I have been wondering how many total participants-members and guests-have been working in this forum?
Does anyone personally know anyone else outside of this forum?
This was great-where else can you give your thoughts, pick other players brains, brainstorm and otherwise have a fun time playing a game other than in a forum.
Also - thanks to the moderators for keeping it nice. EVERYONE has thought at one time or another 'what a yahoo' after reading a post. Or misunderstood something because of reading too fast or not taking the time to let the post settle in their minds. Thanks to the moderators for not letting the agressors make fun of the newbies and their mistakes.
Hope you all had a great time.
Good luck to all of you.
DID YOU GET A CALL YET?????

That press-release is pretty convincing info for other commercial parties interested in doing similar games to attract potential customers... they even name their opt-in percentage (which is usually considered rather private marketing information)... I wonder how many companies will follow (and if they are willing to provide unFiction with some new hardware to be prepared for the hefty hit on the forums )

The press release is real but the guys that claim to have been called are not. Even though the rules say notification "on or about July 17th", after I entered my contact info it said the week of July 24th

According to Volvo, the official winners list will not be posted on "The Hunt" web site until after the car has been dug up......so you may want to hold off on posting your congrats (to the real winners) until after Aug. 15.
"WINNERS LIST: To obtain the name of the Finalists and Grand Prize Winner, (available after August 15, 2006) go to: www.volvocars.us/thehunt until August 31, 2006 or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to be received by September 29 2006 to: "Volvo XC90 inspired by Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Hunt Winners, c/o Centra Marketing & Communications, 1400 Old Country Road- #420, Westbury, NY 11590."

So there I was, just go in from work yesterday eveing and my mobile rings...
"Hello, this is xxxxx calling from Volvo..."
It transpires, that they thoughts I'd booked a test drive which I know I hadn't. Perhaps I shouldve agreed to it.
I didn't win

We're in! Ok, I'm a loser... but my wife is a winner! She got the call we were waiting for today. They are going to fly us to Miami for a night, then we'll go to a "mystery location" the next day. Passports are required. We're pumped!
more details to come...

Haha the same thing happened to me when I was playing the NBC treasure game. I thought I won the $10,000 dollars because I had gotten a call not to long after the polls closed. It was my lousy brother!
