[EMAIL] Sam Greene July 17 - Bumper Stickers

To recap, I sent Sam an email about the message hidden in the bumper sticker. I suggested she might check out other bumper stickers and inventory Iris has.

What I sent.

Quote:
Dear Sam,

Last night Iris Page added a picture of a bumper sticker to her website. Apparently she found it while going through the old inventory Wes Keeler left behind. I'm not sure if you helped her do this or if she actually figured out for herself how to add images.

I know you and Wes were close friends and I don't want to do anything to upset you, but I've discovered something odd about that bumper sticker. Across the bottom there are, what appear to be strange little symbols. Well, I noticed that several are the same. Using what's called a frequency analysis and substituting letters for the symbols, I believe I've deciphered a message.

I know that Wes had great love for the Pine Barrens and loved to explore them, but did you ever hear him use the expression "My soul is in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey"? That is the message at the bottom of the bumper sticker. If this is something Wes never said, maybe it would be advisable that you check out any other bumper stickers or personal items that Iris has found. I'm a true believer that people who have passed on can and do send messages to their friends and loved ones.

Again I'm sorry if this has upset you, it was not my intention.

Sams Response.

Do you really think that Wes hid a message in his bumper stickers?
That's odd, but I guess not completely unlike him. I haven't seen the
bumper stickers in person yet. I wonder if they are all the same?
Iris asked me to look through Wes's things a while ago, but I haven't
had a chance to yet. Or, I guess, to be more honest I haven't gotten
up the nerve to yet. I'm not exactly comfortable around Iris and just
the idea of sharing a touching moment with her reminiscing about Wes
doesn't sit well. I'd rather do it when I'm by myself, ya know?
Maybe I'll grab a handful of stickers the next time I go over there
when she's not looking.

I don't think I remember him ever saying that exact expression - "My
soul is in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey". It fits him though... not
that I believe he's sending a message from the grave, just that I'm
sure he felt that way about the Barrens when he was alive.

And don't worry, you didn't upset me. Thanks for letting me know Smile
