I'm stuck on one of Emerson's puzzles. The one with gibberish text that is arranged to spell "NO". Any hints. I tried anagrams but didn't get anything useful.

If the Emerson puzzle you're referring to is the one with three rows of text with NO at the end of the second row, the hint is

Two new connections today and already solved. I am kinda worried that this will end without us being able to solve every single puzzle out there. I want to see them all, even if they don't count for points or anything. Just for the brainjob. Wink

In any case, here's the latest from the SC tech support forum:

Quote:
You might have an odd number of connections if you connected to Stanley, since those connections were refunded. For example, if you solved 2 of his puzzles, then you'll seem to have 2 extra connections, giving you a weird number.

Once Madame Z was threatened, she dropped the connetions per day to 2 to limit any potential poltergeist influencing.

This was as a response to a question posed by carlwebb

I am also kinda dissapointed in this ARG there isn't really interactions like I had hoped for ala CTW. But it is still kinda cool.

The first one:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It looks so neat and orderly in how those letters are spaced out - they just look a bit lonely. It reminds me of A Treasure's Trove Wink

The second one

Hint 1:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
was a type of cipher used in the civil war

EDIT:

Hint 2:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It is a substitution cipher

Hint 3:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It was developed in the 18th century by the Freemasons

One nudge (in several subnudges) by request from axissally:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You're right -- you don't need all of those letters.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Is there any way to divide the letters into several groups?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There are at least two sides to every story.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Or three.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
But only one will give you what you need.

Killalaz, there's also clues in the list of puzzles on page one of this thread.

Well I've got my payback for moaning I was getting all the same puzzles, I'm currently stuck on 4! Being:

The Name that tune one mentioned on pg4
The Who am I one

and 2 new ones :
one's a picture of the night sky with the phrase A CODDLED NIGHT'S WHIRR which is probably another word substitution one, but can't get anything (spoilt eve's buzz???)

posted, as I have no idea where to start:

BTW I'm maybe going too far, but do you think there is any relevance to the type of picture used? The first ones were all jpgs but I noticed a gif and this was a bmp....probably nothing though.

Alisdairpark, I think i figured out the music one you posted.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It is not the words or the meanings that are important. I got it when i asked myself "Why is there a cross there and why is the center of it in the A?
