Try just deleting the files "units.txt" and "proc.txt" - if one of these get locked by a virus scanner, this can cause your problem. If that fails, re-install the client.

That did it! Thanks a bunch. That was much easier than reinstallling stuff over and over and it doing nothing. I appreciate it.

Try clearing one of the text files.. erm i think it was client.txt the one with the work unit number in.

I could just be talking rubbish but try that and save them empty file. The client should then ask you for your details again. You will however lose all your current units in the packet.

In case thats not the correct name of the file (im on a work machine at the mo and cant check) then just delete and reinstall it.

On the basis of that statement I think you could have stopped at "I am REALLY clueless."

Not really Clue, as I have had scenarios before where people presume I no nothing of computing, where as I know my way around fairly well. So people dont have to talk to me like a complete idiot... That way no one misunderstands or gets annoyied. People know where I am coming from that way. Although I do feel your comment what some what uncalled for.

Ok, sorry, perhaps I should have explained:

The way you originally said that would, to many people who do have a clue, make it sound like you don't actually have the level of 'generaly computer compentance' you do in reality have.

Whereas something like: "I know nothing about X, but am generally competant with getting things working." would have been better.

Personally I would never expect a CAD technician to DEFINANTLY have ANY IT knowledge (be it programming in xyx, networking, etc) - because in todays world it shouldn't be required.

It originally suggested that you thought a large field was just a small area beyond a CAD technicians own area of expertise.

Occasionally some of my clients have got that, but they do eventually sort themseles out. 20mins max.

Erm, I am a little lost with the 'Personally I would never expect a CAD technician to DEFINANTLY have ANY IT knowledge' statement. CADdys HAVE to have more than a basic knowledge of IT considering we work on a rather complicated computer program itself. Which does involve a little understanding of the programming script. Yet, that side of it has come with time with me and I know the ins and outs of the program itself yet any other kind of programming throws me. I am sure many people here understood my reasons for adding the CAD comment. Basicly Clue, all CADdys have a basic yet enough understanding of the usage of .txt files and such... all I was trying to say.

P.S My appologies for the long quote, cant figure out how to cut bits out yet.

And in reply to Agent Lex, when I try to run it I get this box come up.

I had the same error message when running Shareaza and other P2P progs. Turn them off and the error disappears.
