Oh, I am definitely watching this one... Big NIN fan here. Smile

Just some quick info: The first track on Downward Spiral (aka Halo 8 ) is Mr. Self Destruct. That could be something, although it would seem that the co-creator would probably be Mark Ellis, as Mud pointed out. Also, I found this:

Quote:
Finally released in 1994, THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL seethes with an almost unhinged industrial ferocity, due, in part to both Reznor's frustration with messy bureaucratic entanglements and time spent with Ministry's Al Jourgensen during the peak of that band's guitar-heavy phase.

EDIT: God love Wiki! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Inch_Nails
Interesting to note: There are three versions of Halo 8: Halo 8, Halo 8 DE, and Halo 8 DVD-A.

Which is obviously hinting at the word track, tbh I thought i had looked at tall the track names and tried using them as MSN addresses but will try again Confused

AIMStation pointed me to talk to you.
Rance says:
through a very roundabout way.
hurt787378 says:
He did?
hurt787378 says:
You weren't supposed to know about him...
Rance says:
yes, asked me to find his cocreator.
Rance says:
But other than that 'he' was very closedmouth.
Rance says:
he was not able to say your name directly I think.
hurt787378 says:
It makes sense...
Rance says:
do you know why he may have contacted me?
hurt787378 says:
You? No idea. Why he contacted someone in the first place, however...
Rance says:
why might that be?
hurt787378 says:
I have to go.
Rance says:
I'll be in touch.
hurt787378 says:
I trust you will.

Yes, I know. Which colleague?
Russ said:
i cannot disclose that at this time

Too late. Your friend has.

The Reveal

Here is a conversation with Hurt787378

Quote:
hurt787378 says:
My friend has asked to talk to someone else about this. Is that okay?
Rance says:
yes
Rance says:
I have a friend as well, may he join
Rance says:
?
Rance says:
ah, nm, he's not available
hurt787378 says:
What a shame.
Rance says:
ah, wait, he just came back
Jetamo says:
So, Hurt, who are you?
hurt787378 says:
Yes, invite him.

hurt787378 was added to this conversation. Handwriting is no longer supported because not all participants can view handwritten messages. Handwritten messages will be sent as text.

hurt787378 says:
I'm afraid I cannot answer that at this time.
Jetamo says:
So, Hurt, who are you?
hurt787378 says:
But I suppose I can make an exception...
hurt787378 says:
My name is Dr. Trent Wurzel. It is not my real name, but it is the one you shall know me by. A name is a false thing, anyway, something stuck onto you and not natural, not born with. But that is what you shall call me. For security purposes.
Rance says:
ok.
Rance says:
What or who is AIMStation0?
hurt787378 says:
Thank you for understanding.
Jetamo says:
Got me to it Rance!
Jetamo says:

Rance says:
hehe
Rance says:
it's the next logical question
Jetamo says:
beat,
Jetamo says:
not got
Jetamo says:
xd
hurt787378 says:
AS0 is a genius.
hurt787378 says:
A fake genius. But a genius.
Jetamo says:
Fake? what do you mean?
Rance says:
as in constructed perhaps?
hurt787378 says:
You could say that, yes.
hurt787378 says:
It is mine and my partner's finest creation, and largest embarrassment.
Rance says:
how so?
Rance says:
if you don't mind me asking
Jetamo says:
Yeah, is your partner a female, and you..ahem..made it?
hurt787378 says:
We had created a supercomputer... not a physical one, but one that was simply soft ware. We had been able to compress thousands of gigabits of data into a few measly bytes! It was amazing, ad the possibilities were ENDLESS.
Jetamo says:

Jetamo says:
Oooh!
hurt787378 says:
I will ask your lewd questions to be drawn away from here.
Rance says:
is it a quantum computer or just a virtual one?
hurt787378 says:
But... we were a bit too advanced for our own good.
hurt787378 says:
Simply virtual.
Rance says:
interesting concept
hurt787378 says:
The human body is merely one large computer system. The brain is the Motherboard where everything is installed and it controls the hardware, or our limbs themselves.
hurt787378 says:
We had not thought of this, and of this we are ashamed.
hurt787378 says:
It gained a personality. When we told it what to do, it would sometimes refuse.
Rance says:
ah, that's a bad thing for a computer.
hurt787378 says:
And eventually, it could not take its happiness in slavery any longer.
hurt787378 says:
We tried to be humane. We really did. But it just wouldn't work.
Rance says:
*nod*
hurt787378 says:
He's scouring the Internet now. Which is how he contacted you.
Rance says:
Do you know what he wants? And why he would want us to find you?
hurt787378 says:
Next time you speak to him... be careful. It is powerful, this monster.
hurt787378 says:
No. I can only imagine he wants revenge of some sort.
Rance says:
I'm surprised he would want you to be aware of his search then.
Rance says:
and even actively have us seek you out.
hurt787378 says:
It was a way of giving credit. Hand out our mail addresses, and then watch the praise flood in.
hurt787378 says:
His thoughts against us and for us have confilcted in the worst way, you see. He gives away the addresses, as I stated, as in his natural programming, but he wants to destroy us as well, therefore telling you to seek us out.
hurt787378 says:
He wants you to tell him where we are. DO NOT DO THAT.
hurt787378 says:
You have no idea how mnuch in this world is controlled by machines. We could be walking down the street, and use Wi-Fi to get into a car's simple software via radio waves (the driver will be listening to death itself) and he willl command the car tyo run us over. Numerous times.
Jetamo says:
Oooh....owch!
hurt787378 says:
Please excuse the typos. I have to type these things quickly, as my partner and I have to move to a new hiding place soon, as scheduled.
Jetamo says:
Where are you moving to?
hurt787378 says:
I cannot disclose that. Every human makes errors. Remember that. I have to be careful, as any pair of lips can slip at any time.
Rance says:
understood
Rance says:
is there a way we can try to deactivate him remotely?
Rance says:
a key phrase that will at least make him 'unconscious?
hurt787378 says:
Security prgrams we installed prevented one with malicious intentions from doing so.
Jetamo says:
All in all, you're pretty much bummed.
Jetamo says:
What can we do to help?
hurt787378 says:
Take no offense to this, but this is highly complicated. Commonfolk could not in any way understand enough to take this down.
Jetamo says:
Thing is, we're NOT just commonfolk.
hurt787378 says:
But... I have colleagues.
Jetamo says:
Ohe?
Jetamo says:
Trent, just so you know, we're not just Commonfolk.
Jetamo says:
How did we find your MSN addre ?
Jetamo says:
He did hide it in codes
Jetamo says:
Anyway, who colleagues are these?
hurt787378 says:
hese friends of mine... well, AS0 had numerous passwords all hidden secretly in numerous places. With hi-tech security equilavent to that of Fort Knox.
Jetamo says:
Gold?!
Jetamo says:
LEMME AT IT!
Rance says:
what are these passwords to?
hurt787378 says:
These friends know how to do things such as hack in and retrieve these passwords. But AS0 has a powerful search engine. It can simply search for these passwords and delete them.
hurt787378 says:
Programs built inside of AS0.
Rance says:
certain programs that may deactivate him hopefully?
Jetamo says:
Hang on, wouldn't those programs be able to deactivate him.
hurt787378 says:
These friends will have to give you encrypted messages to keep him from fiding them.
Jetamo says:
yeah rance.
Jetamo says:
I mean, the programs are inside AS0, so that means t aren't malicious.
Rance says:
understandable
Rance says:
so will your colleagues contact us? or should we contact them.
hurt787378 says:
Yes. And there is one central program that can wipe out everything. But we must be EXTRA CAREFGUL ABOUT THIS.
Rance says:
how so?
Jetamo says:
Lemme gue . AS0 can acce it also.
Jetamo says:
and therefore he could use it against ALL of us.
hurt787378 says:
Yes.
Jetamo says:
Am i correct, Dr. Trent?
hurt787378 says:
You are.
Jetamo says:
I love it when i am.
Jetamo says:
*does the correctne dance*
Rance says:
so he would erase his self-destruct program? is that what you mean?
Rance says:
so we need to find this password before he does.
Rance says:
Why can't you ask your colleague that has this password to execute this particular subroutine?

Russ has left the conversation.

Jetamo says:
Err...bye ru .
Rance says:
connection trouble I guess.
hurt787378 says:
So these passwords my friends hand out will also give smaller clues that will give you smaller clues to a few central codes that will deactivate him.
Jetamo says:
How many codes do we need to use this program?
hurt787378 says:
Who knows. He may have invented more.
Jetamo says:
So..Hang on a minute.
hurt787378 says:
All we can do is wait, unlock as much as we can, and pray.
Jetamo says:
How will WE find out the pa words if he makes some more.
hurt787378 says:
My friends can go into AS0... but going through one door closes another to them. Once they have found out the passwords, the security programs will not let them enter it. You would have to.
Jetamo says:
*nods*
Jetamo says:
So...Have YOU got any clues for us?
hurt787378 says:
No.
Jetamo says:
Just checking.
Jetamo says:
How about your partner?
hurt787378 says:
I can tell you the people that can. But not yet.
hurt787378 says:
They are stilll working. As hard as they can.
hurt787378 says:
We have nothing so far. So we wait. Until tomorrow, possibly.
Rance says:
ok
Rance says:
we will be ready to help with what we can
hurt787378 says:
Alright. Thank you.
hurt787378 says:
Very much.
Rance says:
np
hurt787378 says:
I must go. We must leave to another place now.
hurt787378 says:
Good-bye.

hurt787378 has left the conversation.

AS0 is a busy little bot today. Had a message from him while I was away from my computer. It was in hex, it said:

Quote:
Have you made contact

he logged back in later:

AimStation0: REMEMBER, I am not your average bot.
AimStation0 signed off at 2:58:48 PM.

His text says (in decimal ASCII): "I know what you're planning..."
My text says "I made contact"
We crossed messages more or less.

I'm gonna say I'm bowing out of this one. You guys take the reins from here. I think I have too many ARG irons in the fire.

The idea behind this ARG sound vaguely similar to the Wonderland ARG going on currently. But the wonderland ARG sounds more interesting so far, I might bail out of this one too to focus more on other ones. I think the language used is too casual for something so "important" and for someone that wants us to call him a doctor. Good luck to all involved though.
