Some time ago now I vaguely remember in one of the forums someone found some numbers that he used on google that pin pointed a specific spot near an intersection in I think D.C near some national centre. It is an a public place and is often watched (likely CCTV) and is or was in an open space.

Seems a possible place for the cube to be buried or the whole thing is fake like Receda being Ansjborgen for Bird Flu.

Except that if the Cube is in any country with a decent number of players, it's going to be the UK or at least a country close by. Sad Plus it has to be somewhere where some pasty lunatics can dig without passersby calling the police. Wink
I'm thinking a country roadside or a beach or something. Except probably not a beach, because there's too much chance of some random person digging it up.
Hell, maybe it's on Uluru and we'll have to climb it to find the Cube. While repeating the Fibonacci sequence, or something, so we still look smart. Wink

Plus, the cube is allergic to water.

Twisted Evil Yes, I am holding the cube hostage for a total of 5,000,000 US dollars in small, unmarked bills put in aluminum briefcases with no lead lining or tracking devices. I also want a jet with enough fuel to get me to Mexico from my nearest airport. If you cooperate, I will send fruther instructions as to where to find the cube, how to disengage the device, and the location of the antidote. If you do not cooperate, I swear I'll blow up the cube and half of Earth with it (not the half I'm standing in). I know you have more Lecks than what you guys are offering, so don't tempt me. Laughing That is if I find the cube first......

I'm actually intending to do this. Somehow I think giving the Cube back to a city that has treated us like their neanderthal cousins, not elaborated on its possibly quite dangerous abilities, or even whether it will be secure once handed back, will lead to disaster.

haha ebay that shit

Indeed why return the cube to PXC? I've been thinking about this since I joined the CRT earth-dev - I'm not really sure who to trust in the world of PXC, or even Mind Candy for that matter. I mean, should we trust Sente's lot? Yeah, he got us into this but we really have no concrete access to his actual motives. For all we know (and some meta puzzles suggest) he might be behind the cube theft himself.

Anyway I'm thinking maybe if I find the cube I'll put it up on eBay with a $200,000 starting bid Very Happy

Either that or in the remotest place possible, ie Antartica, so that NOONE accidently digs it up, except maybe a penguin or Guin.

True. Very Happy

But..hmn. I kind of like the idea of a roadside, though, myself - plenty of fairly well-packed dirt, and it's highly unlikely that anyone's going to come across it accidentally unless the road's being worked on.

As for the water thing... maybe it's in a plastic bag? Wink

It's perfectly obvious that the cube will be close to home, MC's that is, somewhere where there will be lots of people available to swan about looking for it. If it's buried in the traditional sense it will need to be somewhere very particular since MC can't have people digging up Clapham Common. I also imagine that someone has been keeping an eye on it (if it has been buried at all yet, which I would doubt - too risky that someone would stumble over it) so it can't be too far afield. Can you imagine them putting the Cube in the US or Australia, when the vast majority of players are in the UK? I can see the next season's item being virtual so that everyone has a chance but not this time 'round.

I can see your point, but there wont be anotheri item to look for, otherwise season 2 will just be a re-release of the timeless classic "season 1"- maybe with a directors cut and bonus features and stuff.

Very Happy

Perhaps - still, there will need to be an objective, and a singular one at that, such that someone can win. The point is that, whatever the objective, I suggest it will be virtual, not a physical item in the real world. Perhaps a hack of some kind . . . Smile MC has been brilliant about addressing concerns raised about it's lack of global fairness now that there are players from all over involved so I can only expect they will find a way to ensure that anyone can win regardless of their physical address.

It looks like some specialised equipment will be needed. There was a link recently to a page on Kurt's blog where he's talking to a cube researcher, and the researcher told us that the cube emits electromagnetic radiation, much like microphone bugs do.

I know there have been reports and suggestions flying around that 'something' has been buried. But why bury the cube? Isn't that a bit obvious?

This is a treasure hunt, but has been a high-tech one up to now. I think that hundreds of people digging up a large volume of earth would be odd. The cube could be incorporated into something mechanical, or even built into a structure of some kind? It's early days, I know, but expect the unexpected I say! (Or just tell me to shut up...)
