I wish I could remember the name of that story I read years ago, back in my
teens I think, of a guy who goes into a library, selects and opens a book
almost randomly, only to find that it is telling the story of his life, in
thorough and explicit detail. That?s what, or should I say who, I feel like
right now. It?s all there. The signs. The coincidences. The patterns, like I
said. Like a fractal, tiny at first, but growing exponentially larger and
deeper at a rate you just simply cannot comprehend.

I realize now that everything that has happened, that is happening, and that
will probably happen tomorrow, is, in some and unexplainable way, a twisted
version of something that I?ve written about in my comic book story. Sure,
some of it at first was immediate and obvious, and made me laugh or at least
briefly ponder all the weird coincidences. You?ve probably read pages of my
fruitless speculation on that very subject. Like me dreaming and then writing
about a mask in the comic, only to have Sarah show me drawings of the ones she
was making for that story a few days later. But I?ve only just begin to
realize and understand how much deeper than that it goes, and that in turn, is
just the beginning of something even larger.

Think about it. My story mentions a mask, and then Sarah creates them ,leading
to this whole missing person and missing mask thing here in town, involving
that guy I bumped into a few times with Meaghan. The same guy who has a website
called three-o-seven, featuring the same circular symbol that I?ve dreamt up
and assigned to a group in my story that I?ve named the 3-0-7, based on an
obscure foreign fantasy book I read ages ago. In my story, as instances of this
weird symbol begin appearing all over Aglaura in the form of graffiti and I
begin to take notice, my house is burned down. Here in the real place, just as
the same image shows up in various places a round town, fires break out at
places I?ve either going to or just been.

Hold on, I?m just getting started. In my story, I end up crazy and locked up
in a mental ward called Klepsydra. Not long after that, my friend J. D.
Willingham tries to kill himself and gets committed to a facility in Princeton
called Klepsydra. I dream about a guy with six fingers at a nearby amusement
park and guess what shows up? A fortune teller with six fingers at Ash Grove
Park. My story includes someone finding something important out in the woods
just outside Aglaura, and now I?m getting emails telling me that something
similar has happened here for real. Am I crazy, or is the world?

Oh yeah, don?t forget, in Chasing The Wish, I?m wanted by and hauled off by
the police for acting crazy right as the story starts. In real life here, I?m
on the verge of the same thing happening, over the fires were that set last
week. Not to mention the fact that the 307 symbol I created is part of a
separate criminal investigation going on right now, too. Right before someone
sends me a version of it drawn over a map of Aglaura. And then, right after
that, I find a CD in some of a friend?s old belongings that has an image on
it, of the very same area encircled with the very same type of circle.

From back in the 1980?s.

Like I said, it doesn?t stop. The damn CD and the story it tells is full of
freaky coincidences, some of them obvious and some of them slightly twisted or
modified, but still recognizable in their similarities. Just like what I?ve
described above. I could name them, but it would stretch this email out another
page or two, perhaps. But it?s all there. It?s all happened before. Or some
version of it has.

I know I?m not making any sense. Listen to this. It?s from page 14 (I think)
of the one Ong?s Hat document on the CD from Wes.

?On the assumption that brain activity can be modeled as a fractal universe,
an outré topology interfacing with both random and determined forces, the
twins? theorems showed that consciousness itself could be presented as a set
of ?strange attractors? (or ?patterns of chaos?) around which specific
neuronal activity would organize. . . While realizing the ultimately
indeterminate nature of these ?mind maps? they felt that . . . one could
?ride with chaos? somewhat like a lucid dreamer learns to contain and
direct the process of REM sleep.?

I?ve been reading that for days now without it making much sense. But then it
hit me, it ?flashed upon my reason? in such a way as to finally make sense.

It?s talking about wishes coming true.

 		I got that same email pretty much I was just about to post it but you beat me to it! What do all those ? means. They have to be there for a reason.

 		I tried pulling the letters near the ?'s but it's gibberish - I think it may just be a formatting thing - but then, I've been wrong before.

 		I haven't slept and I can't really focus right now but did you count the number of ? I am thinking something to do with Fibonacci and fractals like he said.

 		It looks to me like he replaced all the apostrophies (') with question marks (?) perhaps it might be a formatting thing. But I think not. It might have to do with something in town, or maybe the ascii codes for the characters themselves. Can someone look into that? I have a vet appointment for my new rabbit.

 		Except for the Meister Eckhart quote as an opening paragraph, I'm not seeing anything that seems ?puzzly?. The quote is wholly appropriate(Though kinda TOOC), but it's author seems a little odd for what we've been introduced to, so far.

It just looks like someone did an inadvertent ?replace all? or two.
Both single and double quotes were replaced while the appropriate question marks were left.

Tried Morse and binary of 4-8 bits, but didn't see anything. Same with first/prior/next/last words.

 		I think you people tend to see puzzles everywhere LOL
I'm pretty used to receive mails in that form, with ? instead of certain symbols, it is because of the different email programs, so I didnt surprise when i receive something in that way Rolling Eyes

That is all well and good, except that where playing an ARG and it is probably best to try everything suspect out as a puzzle rather than over look something.

of anyone around here, i'm the one that usually see puzzles everywhere. but in this case i agree with Shelina. i've received many emails where some of the punctuations were replaced with "?"s Wink

 		I think Dale is right, I think what "Ride the Chaos" means is that one can discern reality from fantasy in a way that they can predict the future. But only predict the future in a sense that they can shape there actions so that they will conform there immediate future to be what they want it. In a sense it would be making wishs come true but only to a certain extent. For example if you wished to rule the world but ruling the world was not a possibility for you then it would never happen. I think we all have numerous possibilities for what our future will be and this "ride the chaos" means that you can see these paths and chose the one you want in a sense. Is anyone following me?

 		I'm reading the info on the CD which of course leads me off chasing such subjects as "stange attractor" and other esoteric terms.

One thing that Dale has talked about often is patterns and trying to put some meaning to them. Seems to me he needs to make a "quantum" leap in understanding them. Smile

If nothing else this is providing some interesting Sunday afternoon reading.
