My nick was zed until Marl64 reminded me of the creepy Pulp Fiction connotations, so I have since changed it to zeyd . Its kind of a derivative of Feyd Rautha (Dune). Not because I like him so much, I just like his name.
I think I spend as much time thinking about a good nick as I do trying to keep up with this ARG. The Vagas odds are that it will change again.
...and I'm afraid I can't explain my avatar.

My avatar's an un-matrixified version of this: http://www.magenheimer.com/images/matrixgold.jpg
I would have kept the code for my av, but it didn't show up right...
So I made my avatar from this: http://www.deviantart.com/view/3631405/ (And yes, that is mine...)

My avatar is pretty much self explanatory, too.

Mine's simple enough, though not as great a reference as Vanka's sig.
Who's Vanka and what's her sig? Anyway, poor Sisyph (hope that's how they spell it in English)
So, I feel lame and unwitty - mine is just me. I have trouble identifying myself with anybody/thing other than myself.

If she's so cute, then resize her to 80x76 so we can actually see her.
Hey, I admit it, I just like doggie pictures.

It looks like I am one of about three people who actually uses a picture of myself. Of course, it has been Photoshopped up to be a little more arty and a little less photograph-like. Previous to this, I used an icon that was a little more William S. Burroughs:
