I'm getting a serious amount of incorrect answers saying nearly the same thing, if not the same thing (I'm not checking entire answers, but at least 3 of them have had the same 4 top cards).

I've enquired with one of the wrong entrants about their logic, so if I've not given enough information, I'll update the puzzle, though I really don't want to because I feel it might be a giveaway.

EDIT:
I REALLY want to just shout out the answer now, its really frustrating.

Well I hope its not my hints misleading people, but I managed to get an answer.

I don't know how to give a hint to anyone because hints would make it to obvious, I have been giving little hints (like telling people the numbers of JQK but thats it).

Well, I got a reply. Seems you all aren't using all the information there is to find.

I might give hints in an hour or so.

Ahhhhh, lol, silly people Razz

On another note, people may have learnt (two of you) bribes don't work on me, I won't be naming and shaming but there have been some rather tempting offers.

EDIT:

Thought I would add 2 tips for people.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1) A=1, 2-9=2-9, J=11, Q=12, K=13
2) GET A DECK OF CARDS!!!! Razz It really helps.

EDIT 2: I'm now had someone send me an answers to check because they didn't get a fast reply from lex, LOL, fun times.

I dont suppose 4 Packs of wave 4 pure would be enough would it?

Laughing No Seriously, I Dont like bribes to get solves for puzzles would like to get it from now on in my own steam so to speak

(P.S would it be possible to put the clues if some are given into spoilers?)

If you can guarantee a silver in each then yes Wink

And I don't like cheating people I'm helping because others are offering me bribes.

I've spoilerised my hints, nothing important in them but I thought I would just to make sure.

Of course. If/when they happen Smile

And before you ask, bribes of pure wave 4 packs for hints/the answer aren't accepted by me either Razz

EDIT: Update: I've received a second correct answer, meaning no more codes, sorry!

I'll be posting the answer soonish.

Well done, how much was the win?

Oh, and someone apears to be CLOSE to the answer, part was correct but it fell down 1/2 way through, I imagine they are going to double check as we speak.

Now that I have my 2 correct answers (I edited my last post, sorry if you didn't notice), I'll post a hint or two then explain the answer.

Hint 1:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You need to find the initial ordering, this is important. It's easy enough to find, you need to think about how I represented the cards.

Hint 2:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You shouldn't be looking at absolute positions of cards. Think relative positions.

Now for the impatient of you, the answer. I'll give the first 8 cards in one spoiler box, so you can check without spoiling the whole thing for yourself, then the rest in a second spoiler box.

First 8:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
8H, AS, QS, 9D, 8D, 6D, 6S, 7D

The rest of the order:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
4S, 3C, 10C, 3S, KC, JD, 10S, 4C, 7C, 10H, 2D, 6H, 7S, 5D, 10D, QH, 5C, JC, 4D, 8S, KS, 9H, 5H, 4H, 8C, KD, 6C, QC, 9C, JH, 3D, 5S, 7H, 3H, 2S, AD, KH, QD, 2H, 2C, AC, AH, 9S, JS

The method:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The first step is to find out the initial ordering of the cards. I made it easy enough, not only was each image numbered (for example, the ace of clubs was named 01-AC.gif) but the /cards directory that the images were in was left without an index page, giving you the entire order right there. But what to do with that order?

You'll probably notice that the first card after the first shuffle is the same, ace of clubs. Also, you'll notice that the first card after the second shuffle was the 27th of the first, 10 of clubs, which would be top after the perfect cut. But the second card differs: in the first shuffle it's the third card, but in the second it's the (now) 12th card.

Figured out the link yet? After each card "dealt" to the top of the new pack, I skipped the number of cards indicated by face of the card that I dealt. So after laying the 3 of clubs down in the first shuffle, I skipped 3 more cards (the 4, 5 and 6) and laid down the 7 of clubs, after which I skipped 7 cards, and so on.

Now you have the shuffle, getting the answer above is easy, though I find it easiest with an actual pack of cards rather than using pen and paper.

Congratulations to poozle and FranG. Also, damn congrats to Manley on the lotto win, heh.
