It seems people are getting XBox Live messages from an in-game character "Marcus Fenix" from the game "Gears of War".

This could be the start of ARG games on the XBox Live system.

FYI, you can send messages through Xbox.com if you have a XBL Gold gamertag.

Send messages to MFenix or LocusHordeH8r.

MFenix's gamercard motto reads "Next Orders 072806″

 		I dunno. I used to think it wouldn't work well because there was no way to know who would actually play it and such, but I suppose it could work. I guess either way, it is working. Smile

I'll message the guy and see what happens. Here's hoping this turns out to be something more than just cheap advertising, but from the quote you provided, Max, I don't think I'll be getting my hopes up too high. Smile

 		Today (8:25am) I added MFenix to my friends list and sent the following message:

"Awaiting orders..."

I also sent "What is the code?" to LocustHordeH8r, however when I attempted to add him to my list there was an error.

His personal message still says "Next Orders 072806" so there should be something new today.

 		I just tried to add the gamertags, but it said their friend lists were full. If this is an official game, why doesn't Microsoft remove that limit?

Oh well, it's probably for the best. I would have so totally PWN'd them in Halo 2.

Wednesday (7/26) at 4:41 PM, Gears of War official forums member El Hatton made a thread titled "Anyone Else Get A Gears-Releated XBL Message?"
In this thread he claimed to have received an Xbox Live message from 'MFenix' (Marcus Fenix is the name of the main character of Gears of War) he had no gamerscore, was in the underground zone, and his motto was 'Locusts Suck!' the message stated:

We need your help.Can't talk now. Don't know who to trust. Will send more tommorow.

Some believed El Hatton, some called him a liar and that he created a new account. He disproved that Here by making a video of his profile list, no 'MFenix'.

As a side note both Mark Rein and CliffyB have posted in the MFenix thread. You can see Cliffy's post Here and Marks Here

Last night, 'MFenix' changed his motto to 'Stand By ...' and kept signing on and off, and when he was on, he'd appear offline...

'MFenix' finally stop signing on and off at about 1:30 a.m.

This Morning, many people woke up to another message sent by MFenix at about 11:17 p.m. Said Message follows:

"Thank you for your help. Don't trust messages from anyone but myself and Dom. He's using the covert name of LocustHordeH8r. They are everywhere, and even classified information sent here could be compromised. We're working on a code. More tommorow."

El Hatton once again went above and beyond the call of duty and made another movie and picture of this second message. Movie Picture

Following this message many people sent 'LocustHordeH8r' a friend request, but has yet to respond, although he has been spotted online for short amounts of time.

People also realized that 'MFenix' had changed his motto, to 'Transmitting...'

'LocustHordeH8's motto was conspicous as well, said motto follows 'There is no I in team'

*****UPDATES*****

At about 2:00 PM (7/27) 'LocustHordeH8r' starting accepting people friend requests.

Around 2:20 PM (7/27) 'MFenix' has changed his motto yet again, said motto follows: Next Orders 072806

Today (7/27) at 5:31 PM, I received a message from 'MFenix'. Said message follows:

Relyt9 and El Hatton - You are two that I can trust. Thank you for keeping order and informing the rest of the members of our squads, along with other inhabitants. Do not trust posers. Dom and I will only communicate through this medium. More tommorow.

Nobody else received this message, except me, and El Hatton got one too.

At about 5:00 PM (7/27) 'LocustHordeH8r's motto changed to 'Squad is full!'.

The person name 'LocustHordeH8r' that posted here is a fake. Do not trust him.

At 11:00 PM 'LocustHordeH8r' sent out a message to everyone on his friends list. Said message follows: Ok squad...I need to set the record straight. The imposter who is using my alias on your crude message board is simply that... a poser. If you lemmings can fall for that crap, maybe you aren't worthy to be a party of this squad. Stay focused!

At 11:53 AM today (7/2Cool MFenix sent a message to everyone on his friends list. Message Follows: Dom will reach out to you today. Remember, only friends of the COG can be trusted - and only using this communication medium. We will need to spread this information more broadly. But only when the time is right.

At 2:16 PM today (7/2Cool 'LocustHordeH8r' sent us a new message. Message follows:

"Those filthy scumbags will pay for what they've done. We're working on the code and hope to deliver it next week to all squad members. It will be a challenge to crack. Are you up for it?"

Around 2:00 (7/2Cool 'MFenix' changed his motto to "Offline... for now"

Today (7/31) at 11:30 AM 'LocustHordeH8r' reached out to us yet again with a new message: "Baird is almost done with the code. Marcus will send the first transmission later today. Get some eggheads together and crack it, once you have all the pieces you'll see what I've been saying. Stay vertical!"

That is the current situation up until now (9:30 PM 7/28/06)
