Library to Move to Willingham House

Phyllis Willingham announced this afternoon that she will be closing down her antique store, The Hollow Needle, and donating the house for use as the new Aglaura Public Library. The library's previous location burned down due to an act of arson on July 11. Mrs. Willingham cited personal reasons behind her decision, stating that her husband's illness had made the continued operation of The Hollow Needle too much of a strain.

Mrs. Willingham plans to move out of her house and allow the head librarian, Sarah Wyatt, to move into the living quarters of the building. Miss Wyatt, in a prepared statement, said, "I can't tell you how happy this decision by my dear friend makes me. Without the support of her, or many other friends both locally and world-wide, the Aglaura Public Library may not have had a future. I can't wait to move into the old house and start shelving. It will literally be like going back home."

The Willinghams had originally bought the house from Sarah Wyatt several years ago before renovating it to include the antique shop.

Plans are to start the move immediately, with a scheduled library reopening sometime in late summer or early fall.

Arson Investigation Continues

Aglaura Police Chief Dawn Prufrock says that the investigation of the numerous acts of arson in Aglaura is progressing, and they plan to name and put out a warrant for a suspect within the next week.

The fires damaged many areas around town, most extensively at the Aglaura Public Library and at Ash Grove Park, where damage totaled both businesses. Ash Grove Park spokesman Cecil Leeds announced this week that the park would not be reopened for the 2006 season, but that they plan to rebuild and open again next year.

Councilman Takes Leave of Absence

Aglaura City Councilman Dale Sprague has asked for a leave of absence from his duties as a city councilman. Mayor Dobbs has granted the request. Sprague has not announced the reason for his request, and has not indicated when or if he plans to return to the job.

Missing Masks Update

Dawn Prufrock also announced that the police department has discovered that the masks stolen from the library have been transported out of the state. The masks, which were part of an exhibit featuring artwork of local Aglaurans, were stolen from the library in late May. Prufrock says that she has asked federal authorities for help with the case.

Aglaura Residents Interviewed by Filmmakers

Filmmakers Wesson Studios conducted interviews of several different Aglaura citizens last week after posting an open casting call on their website. The interviewees say they were asked to appear on camera to speak about local history and legend. The footage will be used in an upcoming movie titled Devil in the Backyard.

Devil Hunt Cut Short

Last week's "Devil Hunt," put on by The Unnatural Emporium, was cut short by foul weather. Store owner Iris Page said, "At first we thought that we would be lucky enough to skip the rain, but once we got out there, it started pouring. Some people swear they did spot the Jersey Devil, though, and maybe even a ghost! I'd love to try this again sometime. We had a great turnout."

Correction

In last week's news stories, it was erroneously reported that 80-85% of the Aglaura Public Library assets were salvageable. Those numbers should have read "10-15%."

I have to say I'm a bit worried about Sarah moving in there.... she already is having nightmares and we know what that place did to JD.... Rolling Eyes

That was my first thought. Didn't JD have a vision of Sarah in the house going nutty?

Also, Sarah does seem to be better since she has gotten away from the library - and it's "wall" in the basement. I hope that she doesn't spiral downward when she moves into the old house.

In a recent email back to Sam (after she asked if I've heard the news about the Library) I've voiced my concerns about the basement connection between the Library Basement and the Hollow Needle Basement.

I'm sensing we're gonna hear about more bad dreams pretty soon.

Did you tell Sam how we found out about the problems in JD's and Phyllis' house? Was just wondering if we are mentioning it to them without giving an explanation of the letters we found? Do we know from any other source about what JD was doing in the basement?

Of course I did NOT say anything about those letters/journals on MyUploads. I know better than that Wink

I should have worded that differently. Sad

I was just wondering if Sam might have asked you how you knew about the problems in the basement. If nothing else, I hope she can atleast keep an eye on Sarah - and if she all of a sudden takes up smoking we might have a problem.

The dream JD had about Sarah is described in this journal entry:

Do we think Sam left the Index file of the letters for anyone to find? It doesn't sound like something she would do accidentally. Everyone says she is a wiz on the computer. I think if Sam did it she did it on purpose. If she didn't do it then Iris did it accidentally out of ignorance.

Either way I think we SHOULD let Sam know we found that folder. Sam is the webmaster of Auglaura and could be a great help to us. I think its time to tell her everything we know.
