Beautiful job
May I make a fFeature request? If it's not hard to add information to locations .... Can we have a sort of set of tags fFor points of interest? Like fFor example, I can search fFor "house" and get all sorts of people's houses -- but not people's apartments. Well, I know you've just put in the text fFrom the card. That makes utter sense. So some sort of searchable meta-data may be useful.. So I could search fFor "people" and it would show me all people's houses. I'm sure there are (or will be) other such things worth tagging in this way. Or maybe residential spots should simply garner their own location class.
did i mention: Beautiful job

A tagging system sounds like an interesting idea (if only slightly stolen from perplexcity.com). I wanted to find a way to make the search work better, and that might be the way to do it. I'm thinking it would also be good to show what tags each location has, and be able to click them to show all the locations with a particular tag.
Laura also suggested linking locations to and from the wiki, which is a good idea. I wanted to add more links to the official sites of some of the other locations, so I was planning to add some more links into the info boxes to official sites and wiki pages.
However, before I do any of this I think my next step will be to get the thing onto its own hosting. I really only used the location I'm using at the moment because I didn't know if it was going to work in the first place, but it's using too much bandwidth now to stay there.

Sorry if this is a very dense question, (and risking a severe trouting)
but where did we get the Ascendancy Point bit of the map from?
I can't find it anywhere (and search was not my friend today ).
Thanks

From here . That's why it's not available at full resolution yet.

The map has moved! Update your bookmarks (and wiki links ) to perplexcitymap.com .
Now to get to work on those suggestions...

I have now added the ability to directly link to a specific location. Hopefully this will make the map more useful as a reference when discussing a particular location. Just find the location by searching and you will notice a "Link Here" link at the bottom of the info box. Copy the address of that link to link directly to the location. For example, I could link to Sente's House or The Academy .
I will start adding the wave 3 map images soon, I just need to find the time to add all of the location information to the database.

Top map that! Looking forward to seeing the new cards added.
What about adding the actual subway lines in, to connect up the stations like on the tube map?

All of the wave 3 cards that I could get scans of are now on the map, with the locations entered into the database for searching. There's still some missing, so if anyone reading this has pieces that aren't on there it would be great if you could scan them in and post them on the forums or send them to me.

An interesting idea, but I'm not sure how well it would work. The subway map is not to scale, it just shows the general layout of the stations.

I guess it would never exactly resemble the PXC tube map, but I think it would work using straight lines or lines that fit best. If you compare the map from perplexcitysubway.com to the map, many of the lines are approximately aligned.
I think would be cool to see all the different subway lines.

Just uploaded some more upgrades to the map...
The biggest (but also the least visible) change is the move to version 2 of the Google Maps API. This is meant to speed things up and improve performance, but it also allows the use of a few extra features, such as:
The overview map - a little map in the bottom corner which stays at the minimum zoom level. Useful for navigating when zoomed in.
The zoom slider - technically I could do this before, but it would have been far too big for the four zoom levels on this map.
Tooltips on markers - Markers now have tooltips telling you what they are. Saves clicking if you just want to know what a place is.
Better display of search results - the map now decides the best zoom level and scroll position to display the results. Previously some searches appeared to generate no results because the markers were shown off-screen.
Another thing I had been playing around with and finally got around to adding was a "What's Here?" feature. The stats show that a lot of people are zooming into maximum zoom and then scrolling around, presumably so they can read the text and find out what things are. This should make finding out easier, because you can display locations near a specific point just by clicking "What's Here?" and then a point on the map.
I have also put the backend in place to link locations to the appropriate Wiki pages, but I haven't had the time to go through and add the data yet. Currently only The Academy has it as a test.
As always, let me know if there are any problems/suggestions/complaints.

Daffy, you're a genius and don't get half the praise you deserve for putting so much into this project.

Genius is right This is my first day and I have to say I am impressed by the amount of work/thought/intellect that has gone into this whole experience by the participants and some do indeed merit the praise of 'genius' but more than that: I am stunned by the co-operation that exists in a competition like this and equally, heartened by it. In a world of internet insults and ignorance; the fact that so much hard work is being shared for a common experience just warms me...
and it's like who cares who 'wins' let's all get there together, and then it's like, really Purdy you shouldn't post when imbibed and then I was all...
This is seriously gonna be my life for as long as it lasts...
and 'I love you guys'

This may get lost with the rest of the today's excitement, but the map is now complete! As well as adding Wave 4 cards, I also added better scans for some of the others.
The new wave meant that more locations needed to be plotted, and there are now so many streets (nearly 400) that the script can't handle marking them all at once. I have had to remove the show all streets link for now (you can still search for them, or go here to see a text list).
There were also a lot of Places of Interest, which made it confusing to find the more important ones by just showing all. I moved some of the main ones into a new category of "Important Places". All the locations in that category also link to the related Wiki page.
Oh, and I removed that silly little overview map. If anyone actually found that thing useful let me know and I can put it back.
