#040 Baby On Board

Sorry I don't have a scanner avalible. card is set out as an extract from a work book
Card reads:

All the mammals living on Earth today can be divided intothree groups. There are the marsupials (such as kangeroos) where the young are reared in pouches. There are the rare monotremes (such as platypuses) which lay eggs. Finally, there are the placental mammals, which include humans where the young are nourished through pregnancy within the female.

Everyone knows that humans are pregannt for nine months, but what about the mammals illustrated here? You might be suprised...

This card has a lot of stuff on it..
The 13 and 16 digit numbers are similar to the ones on #203 ecliptic, also those toy soldiers and dice? what are they for?

Cant help but think the 175 in the bottom corner is to make out this card comes from a book, the left hand corner says "Earth Studies (2nd Edition)" which implies this is on page 175 from that perplexian book.

Intriguing. Anyone up on Perplex City taxonomy?

We know from Zoo Zanyism that there are Elephants and Lions. Wonder which animal is different?

Wow. Never thought I would ever be doing this, but I hereby award the trout award Trout to Allattar for not keeping up... just look - there's a huge thread about them!

Wrong Answer

The gestation length for a dolphin is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
365 days

not the number given. Does this mean anything with the clues below or is it a simple typo? I've sent it in...

The following site, which I found when solving this card, agrees with the card about the gestation length for a dolphin. (spoilered because it gives gestation lengths for a number of animals)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Geocities site on gestation lengths of various animals
However the majority of sites I googled came up with
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
11-12 months
Perhaps it all depends on the exact species of dolphin.
At least I hope so because the more reputable sites had different figures.
