C3 and E1 are also facing each other.

Beginning from the corner with the arrow, and counting in a spiral around the board, yields the following thoroughly useless chart. Enjoy!

Code:
POS  DIFF ORNT  GRP  COLOR  SQUARE   NOT

11   11   up     C   white   black   1E
20   9    up     F   black   white   6A
29   9    down   F   black   black   7G
33   4    down   F   white   black   3G
47   14   up     C   black   black   7E
51   4    up     B   black   black   4F
53   2    down   C   black   black   3E
55   2    down   C   white   black   3C
61   7    up     F   white   black   5E

Re: [UPDATE][PUZZLE] She that falls in love with herself...

That little black arrow in the top right corner... Does it look to anyone else like it might be illustrating the L-shaped move of a knight?

Maybe that black knight on A6 -- the only one on a white square -- ought to move to B4 or C5?

Do you ever get the feeling that Lyn is a trifle impatient with us?

There have been some, uh, alterations to http://www.hangseparately.com/lyn/topview.jpg. Among other things, whoever thought that grey rectangle running down the left side was significant appears to have been correct.

And look how good I'm being, posting the new link right away instead of trying to solve it myself first. Okay, so that's only because I have to leave and won't have time to work on it, but I still think I should get points for my selfless support of UF. Mr. Green

Re: [UPDATE][PUZZLE] She that falls in love with herself...

Did you know that, if you move all of the knights one square to the right and two squares down -- so that the top six rows actually become the bottom six rows, and the last two rows, including that very last knight, basically drop off the board altogether -- and then you label all the squares with consecutive letters, starting with A in the top left corner and proceeding normally left to right and top to bottom, the eight remaining knights will end up on letters that anagram to LICK EGGS?

(Which doesn't work, of course. But might be what Lyn is subconsciously telling the lot of us to do.)

I guess it's time for a hint.

The knights aren't going anywhere.

It must be frustrating knowing the answer, eh, Lyn?
