Apology

I want to formally apologize for removing my post.

I joined Chasing / Catching The Wish to ease the pain of another real life problem I was dealing with and still am.

I didn't need anymore pain.

Some (and they know who they are) hurt me and made me feel degraded, unwanted and seemed to be pointing me to the exit.
I lashed out and through my tears removed my post. I know now that was not the right thing to have done and it want happen again.

However, I bet the ones who made me feel this way don't have the guts to apologize to me.
But that's okay because it gives me back some of my self respect to know that I am better person than they are by admitting my mistakes and saying I'm sorry.

And I Truly Am
Once Again, Sorry
Sylvia

Er... If I've been a bit abrasive at times. I appologize. Not the first time I've done it and admittedly probably not the last, apologize that is. Recently retired from the military, so qualities like that have been, er... highly encouraged... I know it's no excuse, but if I've done anything to offend I hope I can set it right.

CK it wasn't you but thanks for the concern. They know who they are and they are not the man you are so I don't expect apologies from them.

When I first started communicating online many moons ago, I experienced lots of anxiety, until someone said to me "why should you worry about what strangers on the internet think?"

Good to see you back Sylvia, looking forward to lots of great spec Very Happy

Sylvia,

Being one of the people involved, and I will only address this once. I will apologize for hurting your feelings. That was not my intention, but I will not apologize for disagreeing with you. Unfortunately, this all started when we didn't agree with you.

You were convinced that Keith's entry about being "lost" in the woods June 12th was a hint to "Mystes lost" page found June 21st, from the Mystes email. As we tried to explain in chat, there was no feasible connection between Keith and Mystes. In an ARG there has to be a realistic connection between two separate entities or it doesn't make sense. Why would the PM's use Keith as a hint to Mystes? IMO, they wouldn't. We would have no way of knowing it was a hint.

So yes, there was some light teasing, but it was meant in fun, not in malice. As far as I'm concerned that's part of being an online community. As I said that day in chat, I've been teased for the last two years about one of my silly solves, but I know it's done in fun and I laugh about it every time someone brings it up.

So welcome back and please don't' take everything so seriously. It's only a game after all. Wink

enaxor, thanks but teasing I can take.

And, I was just trying to point out how often that word "lost" or antonyms and synonyms of lost had been in our face and not just from the 307 site but many others including the journals, etc.. Even subtle hints like people missing etc..

In chat one night Bravil told me he bet the answer is right in front of our face and we can't see it and I had to agree with him. By the way, haven't heard from him in awhile is he back yet.

And as for the websites being connected -IMO- they are all connected and provide us with subtle clues and hints while at the same time completely independent in and of themselves. Perhaps, those who are playing Perplex City will get my meaning.

As for the Mask of Knowledge from Dale's and Sarah's description:
"What is man without knowledge?"
"Man is nothing without knowledge, merely a thing to be controlled."
"You have embraced some tenets of knowledge and discarded others; in this way you are not whole."

I feel like we were being controlled, by what ever entity is/was controlling Dale, and we were wondering around hopelessly lost. After all, look at how much time we spent bickering over the image at mystes.com/mercury when it was pointless.

And, did not the powers that be get what they wanted in the end? The old section of the Library. Their suggestion and offer of help to digitize the Library would have saved the destruction, by fire, of the Library contents. All they really wanted was the building, the oldest section so the new section was expendable. In other words we would have lost regardless how the vote turned out.

But enough of this, it is pointless.

Now for the Mask of History from Dale's and Sarah's descriptions:
"What is man without history?"
"Man has no meaning or purpose without history, a tool without a use."
"You have chased after history for so long that you are not sure whether you are running towards it or away from it."

Makes me think that we (us, Dale and other in game characters) are being treated as useless beings without a purpose. Also there are subtle hints leading to the Lake of Tears. Why do I feel this? Well there seems be a lot of tears being shed lately and the mask itself has tears flowing from it's eyes. Not to mention that we seldom cry over the present or future but usually when we shed tears they are about something from the past (history - history of tears). Maybe there is some clue or hint at the Lake of Tears and then maybe not.

A bit of humor, maybe the mask is shedding tears over it's lost tongue.

Also - "When past and present and future blend" - this is known as the Now. Not that I know how this fits the whole scheme of things.

And remember, my rants may still be pointless. But now they are out there for us to think about as we progress through the game.

And enaxor to politely not sarcastically correct the following:
Quote:
You were convinced that Keith's entry about being "lost" in the woods June 12th was a hint to "Mystes lost" page found June 21st, from the Mystes email.

mystes.com/mercury was found on June 21st beginning with emails we received on June 20th and mystes.com/lost was found on July 5th beginning with emails we received that day which I believe was meant to be found on July 6th. And I feel that August 6 is our next important date, so get ready it will soon be here.

If anyone is not sure what I'm talking about then your not reading Dale's journals close enough.

I never knew when I started this game that I would be spending so much time defending my opinions but I guess there are always lessons to be learned.

I mean this in the most sincere possible way but, I think you need to closely examine what you just said. You shouldn't have to spend all your time defending your opinons. To be blunt there is a saying that goes "Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one". Opinions are opinions and they can't be right or wrong. It is pointless to try and "defend" and opinon because by doing that you are in a sense telling the person that there opinion is wrong. There is nothing wrong with having opinions but when you try to force them on others that is where the line should be drawn. I am only saying this to you in hopes that you may get something out of it and not take what people say so personal in the future. I have just met you and already had a similar problem so I have to say that while I am sure you are a good person who means well you should take a look at why you fell everyone should beleive your opinions and why you need to be right all the time. Also when apologizing to someone your not supposed to ask for an apology back that kind of defeats the purpose. Before you take this the wrong way remember that you just said there are always lessons to be learned.

PLEASE take this crap to a PM. I know I'm not alone when I say this kind of stuff doesn't belong in the game threads. It just clogs them up. Speaking of which, laz, could you not make it your objective to top-off every thread you visit with whatever is on your mind at the moment. It wasn't so bad when it was basically once a day, but you're doing it twice, now and it's an annoyance to wade through it all to find out that there is little in the way of meaningful content.
Don't get me wrong.. You come up with some brilliant spec, but it's hard to pull it out of the static, sometimes.
As for opinions, you're right... we all have them. And we defend them when we don't think someone else understands them. Human nature.

I'm sorry if I annoy you but I can't change who I am. I don't think I am doing anything that breaks the rules of the forum and I can only recall a few times that I posted something completely irrelevant. If anyone has an issue with something I have said or done please feel free to contact me through private message and we can talk about it. We are all adults here and should handle things as such. So please don't let something bother you until it gets to the point where you either snap or become filled with hate and anger over something that was so stupid. I am totaly open to constructive criticism and will welcome your comments and suggestions. I will try and keep my posts more concise in the future. I hope we can all get past these petty differences and just be friends.

Edited: Fixed a typo that was getting on my nerves.

Okay boys and girls. Rolling Eyes
Topic lock time. Those last two definitely belonged in PM.
Thanks for your thoughts (and thank you Sylvia for the apology). Now, it's my opinion that this topic has been threadjacked and since I'm a moderator, my opinion is now the one that counts Cool
