[PUZZLE] There -is- meaning to the Symbols!

I got one step closer to finding a meaning for the symbols we see all over the place, that Faith 'sees' for her tattoos... I was poring over it all day and made a nice discovery. It's long, and it doesn't solve any 'puzzle' per se, but it's a a step closer. I've added it to the discussion tab of the Symbols page.

Hopefully this will give us a better idea of what these symbols are or represent, and how the oculus (and Faith's "lexicon") relate.

Anyone have any other instances of symbols they've found?

As you probably know Bruce, any instances I get of the symbol end up on http://oculus.wikibruce.com/page/Symbols along with yours. Wink I'll keep hunting though.

Congrats on the big discovery, I've been wracking my brain over those things and probably stared at them so long, I was just thinking about it too hard.

heh yeah I noticed, and by all means, it's a community resource, so get anything you find up there... there probably won't be much more until the next update, at best...
so slow... Confused

Actually, looking at those images on the symbols page I'm more inclined to think that the symbols don't have actual meaning.

I think this because the first 4 or 5 symbols on the "god created man" image are a mirror image of the top line of the "forever banished" image. And I don't see how that would work out in a language...

well in the sense of using the english phrases along with the symbols to find a translation, I'd agree. But the meaning is more along the lines of the fact that the symbols aren't really just randomly placed anywhere. If there was no rhyme or reason, then we'd symbols mismatched, reversed, maybe even flipped, but certainly not a pattern in how the symbols are strung together.

I don't believe we have a translation, but I do believe runes exist for a reason, and there's a purpose behind the script found on the title image for Helpfindher.com, beyond the fact that certain spans of symbols are found in numerous places related to the ARG.

It's far too organized to have absolutely no purpose or meaning. Smile
OTOH, they could just have that script made up, and whenever they feel like it, snip a string of symbols and place them somewhere just to make it look mysterious... I personally find that a little harder to believe, but it's possible.

I have to agree with Bruce on this but for slightly different reasons.
"IF" they put those runes in there just to string us along and mislead the general populus of gamers, the network would have some angry people on there hands instead of dedicated intrigued fans that would be willing to watch the 07' upcoming show.

It's TENGWAR! Half of the symbols on there are letters/vowels from the Tengwar script! I know this only because I'm such a huge nerd. If we're expected to know Tengwar to get the meaning of this, I'm gonna be really disappointed in them. =/ I'll do what I can when I get home, on a decent monitor and with GIMP.

Sorry for the double post. I can't spend the time to set up an account here. I looked at it, and some of the letters are definitely Tolken's Tengwar, but some of them are something else. I don't recognize them at all, and neither does my friend. Sorry that I couldn't help much, but I do recognize J, L, and N in there.
