Nope, Fretty. That's the path I took originally - a red herring.

I can't think of anything else to do with it

Ok - Hint #2
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Crovax1234's observation on the previous page of this thread is highly significant.

When I first read Crovax say that, it reminded me of:

the book 'Gadsby', written by Ernest Vincent Wright. It doesn't have any e's. I haven't been able to find any books with no i's, though

Sorry everyone, I hadn't realised that I was still the only solver. I've had a few people asking for hints so I'll post them here rather than sending out multiple PMs.

Hint #1 So far everyone on this forum has been concentrating on the words. They are important but they're not the only things on the card. The background may well provide a clue to what you have to do.
If that doesn't get anyone anywhere then I'll post a bigger clue tomorrow.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Could 'pixels' have something to do with it? They're 'precise' dots, which our little story is missing. Dang... Only black card I didn't receive!

In black light the hand shows like a normal B/W photo of a hand. But I couldn't see anything else in the background. In normal light I can see the background has a larger grid in it and sometimes a single diagonal line. Magnifying glass finds no more info and confirms that the vague colors I think I see are a figment of the eye.
Maybe it's just how many dots are in the missing words? Well, except the answer box seems to be looking for a word, not a number.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
and not pixel, in any case.

Well, I see something I haven't heard yet, but I'm sure echidna spotted.
(Can't believe I'm contributing to a BLACK card.)

Muscae Volitantes and Detail have taught me well.
They just went and made it harder this time.

a window in the dots if you back up.
Yer welcome.

Tried it. Don't see anything. Tried squinting. See less.

Just look at the image on Page 1, and slide back like two feet. The window is just cracked open. There's other things, I think, but I can't make them out. The window, though, is clear as a bell after moving back.

Your eyes have more imagination than mine. Seriously, on either the card in front of me nor the scan in this thread, I see nothing except that allover suggestion of a grid. (the diagonal I mentioned is a street from the map on the other side )

Well UV doesn't help (did that last night). Cold? Heat?
