At least one person was right on the money here as far as their guess about how the shortest path runs.

More of a hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think they miscounted though.

Why not try it the other way round now?

Gotta wait til tomorrow now ¬_¬

Grr... this one's a tough cookie. We are so close, but haven't QUITE got it yet.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The person who apparently miscounted probably was one that posted their method. Let's look back and see who did. I suspect obrienk

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
probably wasn't me after all. mine was based on the premise that the blocks were passable when the sun was up.

given the 'development' with the card, it looks as though it's the other way round. i'll have another go when i get home.

saying that though, given that i didn't go into the first room, the remaining three sections of my route will be the same. ie from the first room to the second room the sun is down, and the blocks passable - which is how i was working it anyway.

i'll try not to lock myself out again

A clarification on the counting.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It is one second to cross a tile. I looked at that as meaning that I start on a line...and it takes me one second to get to the next line.

I'm having problems now in that the set of rules I came up with and the solution between thema re quite pretty and elegant, and I can't think of a better way to interpret what the card says.

Hey there, first post, hope it helps out with this card.
Based on what Ariock said about
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think they miscounted

I would say that a good method might be to assess what solutions have been discounted and then compile a list of possible counts based around those incorrect guesses. Sorry if this is confusing, this is a list of answers not tried, yet, but close to the already disproved answers.
For Example
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

180
195
197
207
209
212
217
220
223
225
255
257
279
281
282
286
312
317
328
337
347
351

I have discounted
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
328, 337, 347

I surmise that the most probable answer is towards the end of the list, so that's where i'm starting.
Good luck

I got this card about 2 hours ago and have spent all that time trying to solve it (how sad am I? Embarassed )

I found the clue about miscounting very helpful!

I get the feeling I'm way off, but let me say my piece.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
OK, so, the walls appear when exposed to sun, but are removed once the sun goes out. Meaning the entire space is open when the sun is removed from the sky. Assuming the blackened lines are the ones that show in the sunlight, and that the condition changes everytime the sacrifice sets foot in the room. Assuming the maze begins with the sun out, as the story says, that means that two distances can be skipped between rooms. I took a path that I count 106 tiles. If there's something wrong with the way I went about it (which I get the sneaking suspicion there is), then ah well. If not, well, lookit me, I set the current record. The sun-up parts are in purple, and the sun-out runs are in black.

i think you've mis-interpreted the card. the solid brown lines are tunnel walls, and as such you can't pass through them.

the darker blocks on the image are the uv-reactive blocks (although they may not all show on the scan)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

re-doing mine, i ended up with the same route. and the same count.

can't see how it's any other. but yeah, not going into room one, gave 50 less steps - 284 which i tried yesterday.

Much more, and I'll be giving it away....

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The light/dark phases as assumed are correct. (starting with sunlight, unable to go through darkened passages while sun is up, sun disappears when first room is entered)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The exact route shown is not.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Though most of it is.

What I assumed that gave me the solution: (and gives it away)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You have to turn around after you enter the first room

Did you cross the first tile going into the room?
