Could also bee that the English ships were painted black and yellow. Although I don't know what colour the Frenchy ships were.

I thought later - the 'sibling rivalry' could be a reference to the fact that both fleets had a ship called Neptune ....
Both had a Swiftsure too. The French one was originally British and was recaptured at this battle.
Also, they both had an Achilles which actually fought head to head in battle!

How about something to do with WW2 and the fact that the english and germans are related in history ?

I'm looking for mythological siblings that clashed in the battle.
So far I've tried
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Pluton and Neptune
and

Ajax and Achille
No luck so far.
Edit:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Phoebe and Themis, as well

I looked at the ship names to see brothers too, but I'm not so hot on greek myth - did you try the alternate spellings?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Pluto & neptune or ajax & achilles

Pheobe and Orion / Themis and Orion don't work either.
And by tried, you mean tried the number of their respective ships, right?

It's looking for the numbers of the ships, Kradlum - spelling, unfortunately, doesn't matter.

Ships Minotaur and Bucentaure don't work either. I thought maybe I had something by better incorporating the animal aspect.

I have tried entering the flagships of each side to no avail. Just hoping that I have correctly identified each ship to its corresponding ant/bee. Has anyone actually sat and matched the bugs to their corresponding ships? If so can I have a copy. Cheers. Starving through my lunch break at work trying to figure this card out.

If I had the card I'd love to... anyone want to send me a scan that's got sufficient detail to show the Roman numerals without breaking guidelines?

Just compare it to this map and kindly post a list of ship names to roman numeral.

YEEEEEEEHAAAAAW!
Second 'first solve' of a silver card! *dances round the living room like a loony*
Couldn't have done it without the Trafalgar formation information though, so huge warm hugs and/or thanks to all those on-topic here in the forums!

Well done Dom, respect always to first silver solvers.
That map certainly has helped - I now realise that on some of my earlier attempts I had used a different ship to the one I intended.

Cheers B!
Yeah, the info is all pretty much there now, just needs putting together in typically astute cryptic silver-card fashion.
Dom *still grinning*
