When you click the large candy bar in the center, it unwraps a bit, then click agan and it unwraps a bit more. It looks like something is embossed on the foil but i can't make it out.

milk or dark? So, if the Apollo Bar is the "world's richest, creamiest milk chocolate" why does the wrapper say "Dark Chocolate"?

I think it's just shadows caused by the raised letters on the chocolate bar underneath...

They're not going to try and sell this to me are they?
Call me paranoid but I can really see those puppetmaster making a Charlie And The Chocolate Factory type scenario where we have to buy chocolate bars to see if there's a glyph hidden inside the wrapper.
haha... man, I hope not.

Because the organization of the background story about Apollo Candy Company is a bit disjointed, here's a timeline of sorts:
Oskar Benson (grandfather) is the founder of Benson Chocolatiers in Norway.
Nils Christer Benson (father) becomes engaged to Elli and is disowned by his father.
1937 or 38 - Elli becomes pregnant, and Nils and Elli leave Norway for the US.
1938 - M. David Benson (MDB) is born. (So he is 68 today)
1941 - Nils joins the US Marines in December. (after Pearl Harbor, presumably)
1944 - Nils dies on Omaha Beach. (on D-Day, presumably).
MDB serves in the Korean War (which was 1950-1953, so he would have been at most 15. Is this possible?)
During the war, MDB is inspired to create the Apollo Bar. "Less than two years later that vision had become a reality." (so 'less than two years' until what? 1962?)
"After his tour ended" MDB learns that Benson Chocolatiers has been sold to a British candy manufacturer.
Oskar Benson gives secret recipe to MDB, which he uses to create the Apollo Bar.
1962 -- MDB begins Apollo Candy Company in Cow Hollow district of San Francisco.
1962 -- MDB buys Jeep FC-150 to sell Apollo Bars. ("44 years ago...")
1964 -- MDB perfects the recipe for the Apollo Bars.
1964 -- MDB sells first Apollo Bars to J. Pickersweet Five and Dime in San Francisco.
1968 -- Apollo Bars are distributed nationwide.
1970s -- Apollo Candy Company is in 'dire straits' and is saved from bankruptcy by The Hanso Foundation.
1970s-present -- Apollo Candy Candy is "the private purveyor of chocolates for Alvar Hanso and his many companies."

Seeing as the site proclaims itself to be 'not for public sale' and only for the Hanso Group, I highly doubt it.
The big question remains why a supposedly philanthropic organization needs its own chocolate bar factory. Besides stocking the island, what other use could it have? Sekrit ingredients for teh brainwashingn3ss!?

Yeah, you're right.
The ad says "Go to apollacandy.com to find out where you can your free apollo bar." So that's something to look forward to... I think.
Unless of course it does in fact brainwash you.

The kid on the page looks to be butchered "Wally Bole" style, or at least his hair.

I'm sick of all these frankenstein-esque pictures.... I'm sick of all the nightmares they bring... When will it ever end?

Here's an interesting part from the Apollo Candy website, under "The Company":
Quote:
However, due to the considerable financial intervention of Alvar Hanso, founder of the Hanso Foundation, the company was saved from bankruptcy... and infused with new life .
Note the italicized part. Some mad scientist inside of me suspects that this was meant literally. Now, unleash the Soylent Green jokes!

The Apollo ad has also been on the main ABC website for the past couple of days. It plays automatically in the video window.
