The only thing I hate more than a game that depends on blogs is a blogger who can't spell.

I don't think the spelling's half bad (although the instances of "definitely" irk me).

A few things: the poem ("Revelation") is not quite correct - there are errors in the third and fourth lines of the first stanza. I doubt there is a puzzle there, but just in case, I thought it worth mentioning.

Also, what is up with imagination.html? If it's a maze, there's no clear end point (maybe the red "door" in the upper-left quadrant? Maybe one of the exits in the middle? Maybe the ghost pen?), and the "path of least resistance" doesn't mean much to me. Does that mean follow the pellets? You can only go so far in an unbroken chain.

If we had something the same size and shape, I'd recommend overlaying the Pac-Man image over it and seeing where things line up. There's also counting somehow based on the number of pellets in a row/column/line.

Map

EDIT: Wow! There's a spell-checker? The first sentence's word in quotes should read defin-A-tely.

Ideas regarding the imagination page:

the normal start position for pacman is the center right by the arrow. There is also a strip of red pixels the same color as the arrow in the top left quadrant, I'm assuming that's the end of the path.

As for the path of least resistance. I've not really looked for paths by that name but there are others like the cherry path http://www.mameworld.net/pacman/patterns.html

Now lets say that the path of least resistance is a path that has all the holes in it (spots without pellets). I made a quick little trip that covered all the holes without any overlap, starting at the arrow and ending at the line. Then ended up with a binary string of 1's 'n 0's (1=pellet, 0=hole). Unfortunately this didn't convert to any recognisable text. and I did not end up with enough bits to make an integer number of bytes anyway.
So maybe (probably!) there is some other path that will get something.

Or perhaps it is not binary, but Morse or something.

anyway, I hope this acts as a springboard for someone elses idea.

[Landalan] In game reply

Got a reply from our blogger :

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Thanks for the e-mail. It's always great to hear from my readers, (or to
know I have any).

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Landalan, other than what I
discovered today. But there is something weird... I do remember the men in
suits, the ones I blogged about in early July, mentioning Landalan... not
sure what to make of it. Read my most recent blog post for more details.

Will keep checking his site.
The setup in the pac-man pic is impossible to do in real life gaming - must have something to do with the dots layout... cant figure out what tho.

P.S. Anyone tried checking for stegs in the pac-man pic?

doing a contrast fill on the pacman image shows a couple of the dots joined. Can't make anything of it though.

BTW have converted the image to jpeg and xsteg comes back negative

» Landalan.org And Contacts?
I've received a few e-mails early this morning asking me for my contact inside landalan.org. I don't know anyone inside Landalan, but the name did sound familiar... I just couldn't place it. But then it dawned on me: the man whom I saw talk to my boss, the one with escorts had mentioned landalan.

The website itself is... puzzling however. It doesn't exactly have a straight-forward purpose, nor really any content... but after spending a little while poking around, I noticed several hidden links to several pages.

What makes it even weirder is that the page is blocked by the firewall here at work, so I had to proxy my way around the firewall to it.

I'll post again if I find out anything new.

I just made my usual site download and the pacman gif has changed from yesterday , nothing visual but yesterday's pacman was 9.35kb while today it's 9.31 kb .

Btw I don't think converting gif to jpg helps the desteg as jpeg is a compressed format and anything steged may get corrupted in the conversion .

Also , I'm almost certain the landalan and tig guys are different , from landalan we have :

Through an industry insider contact...

but I don't think it's the email from tig ...

Searching around for "pacman" and "the path of least resistence" turns up many references to a blog at www.themanwhoinventedtheinternet.com, a blog which seems to be having something to do with Web 2.0: Haven't there already been web2.0 references? Unfortunately, the site doesn't seem to exist anmore: it links to the random filler adspace thing you get around the internet so much.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

notice the strange placement of the periods and commas?

count the number of words between the periods and commas and u get 2 21 18 14 5 4 8 20 13 12

which translates to burnhtml leading to a hidden page at http://www.theinsidegamer.com/burned.html

got a reply from John Q of theinsidegamer.com:
Quote:
I think the website is the obvious way to a contact, I just can't find
anything. Perhaps some sort of administrative contact? I noticed that on
some of the pages someone is trying to get help... does he have an e-mail?

since he said "some sort of administrative contact", i emailed jonSPLATlandalan.org which is the admin email listed for the landalan site. i got this reply from jonSPLATlandalan.org:

I need to talk to someonÆÝضTRANSMISSION TERMINATED---

don't know what he means by "non-industry address" though...

From the comments he asks for contact from an industry insider

I have no idea what industry apart from the whole arg being 'internet industry' related .. IMHO the email must be in one of the clues we didn't solve yet .

ETA : don't know if it got any relevance but googling just 'industry insider' , you get http://www.cesweb.org/attendees/conferences/insiders.asp wich is a conference series on computers

ETA2 : Also maybe he means we need to mail him with a professional email , not a gmail or yahoo one .

Hey John ,

Sorry to hear you have been fired , from your previous posts in the inside gamer site it seemed you liked it , anyway , I email you because I heard you want a contact inside landalan , just like you I want to know what's going on with them .
I got this inside email : jonSPLATlandalan.org , I sent him an email today but he wants to be contacted from an industry insider as you see :

I can't make this long, e-mailing a non-industry address is risky.
I need to talk to someonÆÝضTRANSMISSION TERMINATED---

... I think you have the right background , maybe we can help each other .

ok just got a reply :

XXXXX,

Scary. Sounds like he's not supposed to be talking to people that don't
have company addresses from... whatever industry Landalan is involved in.

Thanks for the tip, I'll send off an e-mail.

i had the same conclusion after my post above so I sent jonSPLATlandalan.org's contact to John Q. here's what i got back:
Quote:
GB,

Thanks for the legwork! Jon, eh? Hmmm... odd that we have the same name.

About the industry address. Part of working at Blizzard is that you are
given a blizzard.com e-mail address: one that you get to keep even after
termination and/or leaving the company.

I think that I might be able to talk to him with a blizzard.com e-mail. Smile
I'll let you guys all know what he says, if anything.

Hey all,

I'm not especially good at puzzles, so I haven't posted much, but I've gotten halfway started on an idea.

Drawing in a path of least resistance from the arrow to the red line, and counting dots as 1, and blanks as 0 gives a long binary string. Now, the picture changed and has the word "Bacon" hidden on the left. So, trying the Bacon bilateral cipher, once the string has been split into fives and inverted, it translates to:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
rare ensemble bungie lionhead fasa

...which if I'm not mistaken, are all
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
part of Microsoft Gaming Studios
?

EDIT:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.landalan.org/project/mgs.html

It's not much, but it's not a 404 either.
