[EMAIL] Peter Aug 8 - Where are those Pictures?

I sent the following on August 3:

Subject: The Stop Sign
To: "Peter" <peter@mysterytown.com>
Peter,

Hope this finds you feeling better.
I know your tired and frustrated, but it you get the time and when you feel better could you look into the following:

On you page at http://mysterytown.com/unsolvedmysteries.php on July 24, you said you would post some pics of the "stop sign in the middle of the woods."

My friends and myself have been curious about that stop sign and have been eager to see those pics.

So when you get the time and if it's not too much of a bother, could you please post the pics?

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Thanks and Take Care,
Sylvia

Sylvia,

Gah! I was hoping you wouldn't ask about that stop sign thing. Wink I
dumped the
pics from my trip on my computer, but of course they're all labeled
some-string-of-numbers.jpg so I'll have to dig through them by hand and see
where that stop sign went.

I really haven't worried much about the Woods Walker in days, and I'm
less tired
than I was when I got back from Aglaura. I feel pretty rockin',
actually. Thanks for asking.

Re: [EMAIL] Peter Aug 8 - Where are those Pictures?

Completely unrelated e-mail, except that it also came from Peter and was also dated August 8:

Wow. I really hope you're feeling better by now. A fever of 109 is nothing to laugh about.

It's a good thing I'm not the paranoid type, or I'd wonder about the Mayor's behavior. Why would he ask you whether he could pull down the remains of the Library? That strikes me as odd for at least two reasons. First, I remember that you voted to save the Library, so you probably know that Mayor Dobbs made a big deal about how happy he was not to have to cast the deciding vote. So why now is he not only making cracks about how the material could have been saved if only it had been digitized (ludicrous for so many reasons), but apparently planning to tear down the remains as quickly as possible?

Second -- and I know this is so far out there that it's not even in the same state any more -- why would he ask you, of all people? Leave aside that he grilled you about civic forensics for hours; let's say he was just trying too hard to be polite to a guest. Leave aside the fact that he dragged you out to a charred ruin for no readily apparent reason, while you were in soaking-wet clothes and probably looked like death warmed over; let's call that overblown civic pride. Leave aside that your passing out, fever, and headache showed up only after he took you to a ruin and then fed you-- (Okay, okay, now I just sound paranoid. Really, leave that aside. Seriously.) But why would he take you to look at the Library's remaining walls, and ask about tearing them down?

Unless... unless he also thinks that the ANSWERS ARE WITHIN THE WALLS. Or perhaps is acting in the interests of someone else who does.

Well, I did say it was way out there. From what little I know of Mayor Dobbs, he really doesn't seem the supernatural stalker type. I suspect you'd agree, having met him. On the other hand, you did say that he was at the Devil Hunt too.

It's a good thing you like mysteries.

And Peter wrote:
It seems strange to me, too, that the mayor of all people would want to tear
down the remains of the library. But I seriously doubt Mayor Dobbs is the
Woods Walker. I mean, unless that guy is one of the best actors ever born -
and I mean Kaiser Sose good - its clear he couldn't keep his train of thought
straight long enough to solve one of the Woods Walker's puzzles, let alone
write them.

I seriously hope the mayor isn't trying to cover something up at the
library. That's definitely against the public interest, paranormal
conspiracies aside.

(I was actually thinking of Marzent, rather than the Woods Walker -- in my head, a possible scenario is that Marzent knows whatever the Woods Walker knows, and Dobbs is acting like any good politician and doing favors for a big campaign contributor -- but c'est la vie.)
