Well you will need to count something, so you need to keep those numbers separate, sammykat.

Sammykat, you don't need anything from the card except the numbers.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You now need to follow the fairy tale clues (Von's and others' in this thread), identify an author and see if you can use the numbers you have in that way. Still a bit of work to do yet!

That was a good one, slightly helpful if you have kids.

nightmare!

Well I have all the clues and I think I have the right list but no manner of combination of counting letters or starting letters is getting me anywhere... nor can I figure it purely from the obscure fairy tale 'clues' can ANYONE push me a little further into the realm of some understanding please?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Are there KHM numbers in your list? You only need the first letter of each title, but in English.

You have numbers from the card, and a list of numbered things. The next step is fairly obvious. Wink

I found a student at the University of Newfoundland particularly helpful. Another at Carnegie Mellon was OK but I would have had to do the numbering. And I note that at least one list at Pitt is the same, and it even has the numbers...

And to answer another question from above, that I also wondered about:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The final version of this pioneering collection consists of 200 numbered stories plus ten "Children's Legends." The standard abbreviation for the collection is KHM, from the German title. [Kinder- und Hausmärchen](credit to D. Ashliman for the source info; I think one of the sources I mention above actually pulls their data from the same list so maybe he/she gets ALL the credit for the nice convenient lists...)
